BTW AZCards21 was quite a team player today. He exited the stadium went to our post game tailgate and took the entire blame for today's game. He said that although it was a heavy task, he was up to carrying the load for the mishaps of the offense, defense and coaching. However, he did mutter something about a vast right winged conspiracy or something like that...

To me this goes back to the O-line. People know the Cards are going to pass. This is really simple. Cards pass, pass then Run. They run for 2 to 3 yards per carry which means....oh yeah their gonna PASS. Every freaking D-coach knows it.

The line can't open holes for EDGE and they can't protect Warner. Even if he is not sacked, the pocket is continually collapsing around him. Please, put Kurt and Edge behind a halfway decent o-line and we are not even having these discussions.

Here is some news for you all.... ML will make ZERO difference unless he can be protected and oh yeah...they block well enough to make the running game set up the pass.

He's going to be better than you think, IMO.

We'll see someday sooner or later, I think sooner rather than later.

They talked about it...I wonder if that INT to the Rams player was really him thinking he was throwing to his teammate....a little flashback problem.

He was throwing to Pope and lost control of the ball.

I looked like it slipped in his hand and went low instead of high.

It was a bad throw to the right guy not a bad decsion I think.

Now the tipped pass INT in the red zone earlier was just a bad decision.

Leinart will make rookie mistakes, sure...but he will also do some great things out there.

I'm not worried about him getting killed...he will dump off passes to Edge and that will be deadly to other teams. He won't hold the ball too long. He will make mistakes as most rookies do. However, I'd rather have a superstar rookie making rookie mistakes than a former NFL and Super Bowl MVP making rookie mistakes...ones that cost us ballgames.

I say it's 50/50 at this moment that we may see Leinart against KC. And if we do, I hope he gets the full week beforehand of reps with the first team.

Yup! I'm taking the blame for this one! Step on up and let me have it.

I'm not worried about [Lienart] getting killed.
Me neither. The pass protection was largely pretty good yesterday.

Also, I would guess that if they did put in Leinart, they'd also do so with a gameplan that emphasizes the run much more heavily than we have thus far. That'd serve a number of purposes: it'd take the pressure off of Lienart having to do it all himself, it'd make the play action more effective, it would prevent the defense from teeing off, and it would make Edge happy.

No way you throw Leinart to the wolves on a road game against the Falcons. Warner gets one more chance to redeem himself. If he doesn't look for Leinart to start at home against the Cheifs.

SD:

You couldn't be more right. Like most classic pocket passers, Kurt Warner is no more effective than his offensive line allows him to be. Inconsistent line play will result in Warner being hit, hurried, sacked and picked. As he was, again, on Sunday.

Those calling for Matt Leinart to start are giving up on the season after three games. Unless Leinart is the Second Coming of Dan Marino--who had his rookie success with a Dolphins team coming off a Super Bowl appearance--Matt's first season behind center is gonna be one long learning experience, with a lot more L's than W's. Don't forget that the last 1st-round rookie QB to replace Warner mid-season only won one more game the rest of the year.

Let's take a collective deep breath and hope that the current o-line's first game as a unit this season was its worst. As the OL plays better, so will Warner (and Edgerrin James, for that matter). And if the Cardinals can't get back to .500 by the bye week, management and the coaching staff will have two weeks to commit to the future and get Leinart ready to start against the Cowboys.

At 1-2, the season's not over yet. But if the Cards panic and put in the rookie, it will be.

But that's not what's happening. The line HAS played better in every game--and Warner has played worse.

In fact, on most of Warner's misques he wasn't under any pressure at all. And, we even had a running game!

That was some serious Jake Plummer-ish play we saw today.

This team is incredibly disappointing.

Zeno,we should be so luckly to have a Jake Plummer. Oh yeah, we had him once. Took us to the play-offs. Took his team to 12/4 last year. Oh my.

Don't be so tough on Werner, he'll have some good games along the way.
By the way, he is not the problem nor is Dennis Green.
Zeno, you have been around alot of years. You know where the problem is.

There's a ringing endorsement.

Pariah:

Not to nit-pick, but this was the first time these five guys have lined up together since Ross got hurt. I'm talking about improved play as a unit by the five o-linemen projected as starters at the beginning of training camp.

And there's room for improvement, not just in the amount of pressure put on Warner, but in blocking for James. 94 yards at home against the league's 23rd-ranked rushing defense isn't exactly cause to break out the party hats. Let's see how this line looks on the road next week against the Falcons' #2 run defenders before we start celebrating the return of the running game.

Really?

I guess I can see why you might say that, but the same things we were saying in '06 haven't changed that much. Why will the things about Warner that many posters didn't like, be different now 2 years down the road?

I'm concerned about the decision, and think that rose colored glasses are affecting the way many on this board are looking at this. I'm just throwing out a reminder that there are issues involved with Warner that perhaps some don't remember from the past.

But I'm a Cards fan, and will be there cheering at the game. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried.

Nothing changed from 2006 "TROLL". 2007 was the same let's see 11 starts 27 TD, second best QB performance in Cards history in only 11 starts And a 500 record the second one in 20 years. Nice Try TROLL! Sorry you guy is not starting try pulling for the TEAM!

Ah yes. Thanks for the memories. I knew there was something about this decision that makes me ill. I will always be a Cards fan and on Sunday I probably won't spend two seconds thinking about who the QB is, but as soon as the mistakes come you bet your ass I will start to cringe.
