I wonder if Golden will re-sign for a short term deal as this is a terrible class to try and get the deal I think he wants.xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
At some point you will always have to pay the Piper. Sure you can spend now but at a cost later. Ask Jacksonville who is currently $12M over the cap next year with not much to show for it.
That would be very interesting and could possibly happen. I'd like to see him back with the Cards but at a reasonable salary.Maybe we can sign Calais Campbell if he's a cap casualty.
Heading into FA, if I am the Cardinals, I am looking at a DE, LB, LB, WR, 2 OL in free agency. Maybe a CB.
I want to be use the draft to improve OL, DL, and WR.
In FA Give me
Golden Tate (3yrs)
Trey Flowers (5yrs)
CJ Mosley / Jordan Hicks (4yrs)
Kwon Alexander (3yrs)
Rashaan Melvin (2yrs)
If I can get Earl Thomas for 2yrs, I will take him (2yrs)
Andy Levitre (1yr)
Ty Neshke (2yrs)
I would re-sign
RSJ
Benson Mayowa
Rodney Gunter
John Wetzel
Markus Golden
Olsen Pierre
Draft
Ed Oliver - DT
Dalton Risner - OT/OG
Hakeem Butler - WR
This is spending a ton of money, but most locked up into the short term.
This would give us Golden Tate, Christian Kirk, and a vertical Hakeem Butler. We would still have Chad Williams and Trevor Sherfield but the core would be looking better and Tate has experience with young QBs.
You have to go heavy on the vet defense early because you have to be able to make situational stops. I would rather invest in FA LBs than try to draft them at this point. So, Mosley/Hicks and Alexander should fit the bill to go along with Reddick and Bynes.
Flowers gives us a grinder on the defensive line who should not cost us a huge contract. Golden, Flowers, Jones and Mayowa is a nice rotation of edge guys. I'm bringing back my interior group and adding Ed Oliver to give it some juice understanding Nkemdiche is probably not going to be back in 2020.
Melvin and Thomas would give us more guys in the secondary. We probably need to get younger, but it seems better to invest in the pass rush and add vet pieces who won't be out of position.
The line is the toughest part. We could add a better FA RT, but I prefer Neske who can also play LT at a high level. I still think you could plug in Risner at RG and Cunningham at RT and be ok. Cole, Risner, and Cunningham would be a group of consistently healthy players to add stability. Levitre is added on a one year deal to add a vet who can be an ok starter.

For 2019 there are only 30 rostered players who are still under contract. That's a lot of adds. Who are you canning from the roster without adding dead money?
You have to add a ton with this roster. The questions are, will people sign with us, and where can you add the best pieces in FA while balancing the strengths of this draft class. That's a lot of adds. Who are you canning from the roster without adding dead money?
Not with Wilks as a head coachMoney talks.
humphries should be cut too
injury prone and slightly average when healthy

You don't cut an average left tackle or slightly below average when under contract for 9.8 million one year.humphries should be cut too
