USC is going to do USC things, instead of using this as a recruiting tool (our coordinator is drawing NFL HC interest, has groomed X, Y, and Z into NFL QBs, etc.) they would rather cause hate and discontent within their staff...
USC has a unique way of absolutely underperforming despite an abundance of talent, this should be no surprise for any PAC 12 follower.

As hot as KK is now, he could probably go ahead and resign, worst case scenario, he gets an OC job with an NFL club, with a clear path to an HC job if his performance matches the hype.

You are 100% right. There was no guarantee KK would be hired anywhere by denying the interview it looks like they are guaranteeing he is gone before calling a single play

I wonder how much the buy out is.. Hell an NFL team could offer him a lot more to compensate for the buy out. USC is pretty dumb.

I really wanted KK as an OC (with his heir apparent as the QB coach) and thought there was no way he would leave SC for a coordinator job...but, good old SC delivers!
I would love to see Campbell get the HC job, KK as OC, and an aggressive, 3-4 DC!

No one really seriously considered Reich, he was knee deep in an SB playoff drive (so his access would have been limited) and only was interviewed after Josh McDaniels (who was also on an SB drive, but has been on everyone's short list for a while) left the Colts at the alter...

No one interviewed him. That doesn't give Cardinals a pass when they ended up with the worst hire of all coaches hired.
