Talked to some Bills fans. Dude has kinda sucked the past few seasons. But has shown huge leaps of progress in camp and pre season so far. Many of them think we got fleeced and a few thought he was gonna be cut.

Talked to another guy...Ford was in his Madden league,....as was Hollywood Brown and Kyler Murray...

So it could partially be a "keep kyler happy" kinda move.
But the guy was drafted at 38, so he obviously has talent. Based on recent articles he also has the right attitude and personal accountability.

Since he is a young guy... i think its a good trade. Use him as a backup/sub/rotational guy this year as he learns the system.
Sign him to an extension in february based on his contribution. Then drop him in the lineup next year when Hudson and Pugh retire,...and we got a cheap starter for 5 years.
Playing with kyler and brown again should keep him working to improve.

I was high on Ford coming out of the draft and thought the Cardinals might snag him to add depth to the line. I have no problem using a 5th to bring him over.

Pugh has indicated in every interview I’ve heard that he is just as heavy & maybe heavier than last year. He utilized a different workout program & feels stronger than he’s ever felt.
I'm skeptical you can lose a bunch of weight and then put it back on that quickly without some issues.

He said he got to 265, his playing weight is 310, that's 45 pounds. He was quoted as saying he needed to get to at least 285 to be playable, any less he'd be too small. So if he's back to 310 that's pretty extreme 45 off 45 on that fast.

You give up potentially 3 years of a cost controlled backup for one year of a 2 mil backup. Outside of undisclosed information, how is that good?
Last 10 Cardinals 5th round picks:

Deionte Thompson DB Alabama
Will Holden OL Vandy
Marqui Christian DB Southwest TX St.
Cole Toner OL Harvard
Shaquille Riddick DL WVU
J.J. Nelson WR UAB
Ed Stinson DL Alabama
Stephan Taylor RB Stanford
Senio Kelemente OL Washington
Anthony Sherman FB UConn

May be cost controlled, but also might not make the team out of training camp.

I don't have a problem with the trade. We have an excellent OL coach in Kugler and Ford has a great relationship with Murray. Sometimes a change of scenery can do wonders for a player. IMO lets just wait and see how this works out. Depth in the OL is critical.

No one denies he can trade for good players at times. No one can deny, either, that he has to waste draft capital trading for players to paper over his deficiencies in the draft.

Also, those trades have no bearing on how well--or poorly--this trade will pan out.
