I've never started one of these so maybe I'm out of line, too bad. I'm ready to get into game mode. The Cardinals are 1-1 and ready to take on the second of four AFC South opponents. The rap against the Cardinals last year was that they couldn't win games outside their division while going 6-0 against the NFC West. This is misleading because they did go 2-2 against the AFC East, winning both games at home. Today the Cards can start 2-0 against the AFC South by beating the Colts. This is not last year. The home opener ended all illusions of that. The victory in week 2, on the road in the Eastern Time Zone, was further proof that the dynamic has changed. Week 1 erased last year, Week 2 erased Week 1. Today the Cardinals can make a statement on the biggest stage. While it is an interconference game, and counts less in tiebreaker scenarios, it is a statement game. Will we rise to the challenge? With the losses by the Steelers and Patriots last week, the Colts are receiving the media attention that they are now the team to beat in the AFC. So I say, let's beat 'em.

If you like football, you have to lick your chops over this one..

What's not to like?

Two QB's at the top of their game doing all that presnap stuff and orchestratiing their respective offenses.

The chess match between Tom Moore and Billy Davis

Wondering whether this will be Beanie's breakout game

Yet with all the CW predictions of a "shootout", many NFL games don't go anywhere near the way they were predicted.

Yesterday, the "other Cards" clinched and the "Jersey State" Scarlet Knights parlayed 5 turnovers into a win over the Terps. And to add spice to this weekend's festivities - the issue will be settled this afternoon, of whether Singletary & Co. can win their third straight against the Vikes.

It doesn't get much better than this. Fasten your seat belts!

I don't think Tom Moore is the Colts OC anymore, its some guy named Clyde Christensen--who I honestly know nothing about.

Edit: Never mind, looked it up he is the Sr.Offensive Coordinator/consultant...so I guess he probably does do the game planning.

Perfect that you said game planning, Zeno, b/c PM calls the plays.

Earlier in the week, I was focusing on the Cardinals' FS position...and since then Rashad Johnson hurt his ankle in practice (severity unknown) and Matt Ware was limited in practice. If both are inactive for this game, what happend in the nickel and dime packages? This would mean the only two safeties on the active list would be the two starters, Wilson and Rolle. Who plays safety if either one gets dinged? It's just plain weird that the Cardinals haven't brought in another safety. And now they have to defend Peyton Manning...geesh. I think what Bill Davis will have to do is assign double teams on each play (disguising the looks and mixing up the assignments---although that's hard to do) and take the FS guess work out...and hope the single coverage guys can hold their own.

Was thining about the FS position all week. Manning could have a field day with Rolle. Dallas Clark & Manning could seriously toy with Antrel.
While our front 7 HAS to find a way to get steady pressure on Manning, and hopefully bang him around a bit, DRC, Rolle and McFadded simply MUST make a play in this game, if not multiple plays... If not, it really won't matter what our offense does.

Well said...!

BTW, there is no such thing as being out of line in starting these threads... whoever gets to 'em first :)

Maybe the Cards will back Wilson out of the box, especially since the Colts aren't historically a threat in the run game, and use Tolar who is 6' 190 as the the extra deep DB.

I've been "stuck" in Hawaii since May (as many of you know) and when you start talking about EARLY..... I have to set my alarm to be up at 0600 to head over to the local sports bar. They start serving beer and "breakfast pizza" at 0630, since the games start at 0700.

During the NFL season it is so funny watching people sneak out of work early for MNF. Most guys are trying to bail by 1pm so we can get home in time for the game.

Gonna be pretty cool tonight - by dinner time I'll either be in a mood to celebrate or I'll be lacing up my sneakers to go burn off some frustration on a jog. But unlike you guys, if I like what I saw I can watch the whole thing over as a recast. Thats how they even things up out here - prime time games are normally recast in the evening. 2 X the Cardinals tonight!!! Very nice....

Good luck everyone. And have fun!

Kurt has to get rid of that ball.

Funny all the hype about offense and they both go 3 and out the first time they have the ball.

Crowd is great.
