Always one clown on every board who defines a player's career with a 10 second gif. So much easier than thinking or doing research. Make sure the FO sees that so they don't make a terrible mistake.

lol he somehow has career 56% pass completion percentage despite being a check down machine.

He's up there with Jamarcus Russell as one of the worst qbs of all time.

It wasn't that long ago that we thought Kurt Warner was DONE! Then, we acquired Carson Palmer who had been a veritable turn-over machine. Could Gabbert blossom in the desert? History says..POSSIBLY!

Mark in SC :)

Difference is Kurt was a former MVP. Gabbert, not so much

To the person who thinks Cutler is going to play for us, Cutler now works for FOX and is planning to permanently retire from NFL.

When Warner was the age Gabbert is now, he was playing in NFL Europe, and had no NFL stats. An undrafted free agent who was cut in training camp out of college. Palmer was coming off serious knee surgery in Cincy with his NFL career in doubt. Gabbert had more starts and better stats as a 21 year old rookie in Jacksonville (without benefit of training camp) than Drew Stanton has at 32 after however many years he's been in the league.

Terry McDonough was in Jacksonville for Gabbert's years there, and was the team's chief scout while Blaine was still in college. so he probably knows Blaine as well as anyone in the league in a front office position. He was still high on Gabbert when he left the Jags, I know that much.

Great posts, Robert! Keep them coming. What do you think of the Cardinals' draft?

If Gabbert somehow turns out to be more than just a backup, how Cardinalesque would that be. Gosh, I'm all in to turn every rock and stone to find our QB even if he is 27 that means at least 5-7 seasons.

Expect for Luck I don't see young QB that can bring you alone into the playoffs, Matty can't, Wilson can't, Prescott can't, Carr can't and for sure not Cam Newton and no Cousins can't either. They are all good QB but not as good as the generation before them. Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aron Rodgers for sure, Roetlishberger I'm not sure but in his best years maybe. Luck did that and RGIII in his first year did aswell. But expect for that, no other QB managed to play on such a high level that he was so dominant.

So if BA can get a QB playing as good as Kaepernick or Flacco in his SB run, than count me in and go for it.

But if you don't try you never know.

Gabbert is still young and who knows what BA/Moore/Leftwich can teach him.

I for myself would be laughning at all 49ers, Jaguars fans for the rest of my life if Gabbert would manage to win a playoff game with us, hence ... I couln't stop if he wins a SB with us.

So try him out for the minimum.

I guess there's no point getting combative over Gabbert until they actually sign him, but I can't see anyone better out there atm. He missed a fair amount of time early in his career due to nagging injuries, but nothing that was serious or chronic, so he should be healthy and fresh at least.

Draft seems fine, the first two players they took seem like high floor guys more than high ceiling players, but Cards are still in win now mode. Most impressive thing overall was the character/personality level of the drafted players and UDFA. A lot of teams held their noses and drafted turds. I think the personality aspect is underrated in scouting. A slightly less talented player who meshes better with coaches, teammates, and the public will be more beneficial to the team in the long haul.

I would think Gabbert would be the back if signed. Maybe we trade Stanton to the team that he decided not to sign with when he came back to us. Or release him. I'd rather see what Gabbert has than hanging on to Stanton.

Just wondering: It's been over a week since the Gabbert buzz surfaced.

Usually these things happen quickly or not at all. Any inside news?

He's signing Wednesday (according to Birdman).
And the suspense will be over. If it happens, it will be interesting to see how and where the reasons & other news out of Card HQ meshes or doesn't mesh with the speculation, criticism and adulation from Cardinal Fandom.

Considering how long theyve been negotiating, and considering we gave Bethea a 3 year deal, Gabbert is probably looking at 4 years $15M

Its gonna suck, no matter what.

I hope it's at least a 3 yr deal so he can have time to learn and develop in our system. I really hope we make this happen and dump Stanton. I like Gabbert's potential and think under Arians, Moore, and Leftwich there's a chance he could turn his career around.

He's not getting a four-year contract from any team. The most he'll get is two years.

lol

none of this seems logical

Bethea has nothing to do with Gabbert.

The fact that we didnt sign him right away doesnt mean we will sign him long term.

And there is always some guy bashing another personally instead of sticking to the topic.

Calling someone a clown hold as much weight as the 10 second gif.

You like Gabbert we get it.

I think he is a good pick up as well, but there are other opinions on it.

2011 - a year where teams reached for QB's in round 1 and whiffed. 2017 will be very similar.

Taking Locker and Gabbert ahead of JJ Watt? How do NFL teams keep making such major draft mistakes?

1 Carolina Panthers Cam Newton QB Auburn

2 Denver Broncos Von Miller LB Texas A&M

3 Buffalo Bills Marcell Dareus DT Alabama

4 Cincinnati Bengals A.J. Green WR Georgia

5 Arizona Cardinals Patrick Peterson DB LSU

6 Atlanta Falcons Julio Jones WR Alabama

7 San Francisco 49ers Aldon Smith LB Missouri

8 Tennessee Titans Jake Locker QB Washington

9 Dallas Cowboys Tyron Smith T USC

10 Jacksonville Jaguars Blaine Gabbert QB Missouri

11 Houston Texans J.J. Watt DE Wisconsin

12 Minnesota Vikings Christian Ponder QB Florida State

Because without a quarterback you are at best a wild card team.

Is the 2 years standard?
The way I look at this is. 4 years in the league beats hell out of a rookie. 40 games under his starters belt. Many teams have thrown big $$$ at more questionable free agents. QBs are a premium and the NFL is running out of them.
