Wow, that is surprising.

I'm thinking this is a "message". He had a bad day on special teams yesterday. If you want to get the team's attention about mental mistakes, a cut would do it. Of course, you can't cut someone who starts, but you can't cut a nonentity like LeRon McCoy either and have any impact.

Bizzarre move. BJ hasn't been lighting it up ether so I'm surprised he was cut.

Stats wise cutting Lee isnt a huge hurt:

Lee 11 receptions for 152 yards no TD
BJ 13 receptions for 132 yards no TD

However Lee has had a number of special teams penalties including 3 in yesterdays game on special teams.

This is definitly a "message" cut.

Yep. And one of them, a block in the back, cost us about 30 yards in field position because Swinton had a decent return.

Wasn't there another penalty on that play? It's still bad that he drew a flag, but if he hadn't we still wouldn't have had the 30 yards. I might not be remembering correctly, though.

Charles Lee made that awesome grab 4 yards short of the 1st down in the 49er game.... then preceeded to fight for the extra yardage. He also made some tough grabs over the middle.

I liked him :(

Yes, that's the play we were also offsides on. The play would've been rekicked instead of backing us up to about the 20. If it was the only penalty he had, no biggie. But, like jason said, he had 2 more. Our offense just isn't good enough to throw away yardage on special teams.

Those penalties, the terribly mishandled pass in the endzone, and the undefendable failure to light up the punt returner on the ten yard line and instead slapping him on the butt and letting him get 13 or so yards. That last one was inexcusable.

I liked Lee, I'm kind of suprised that he was cut....but I can't say I disagree with the move. It is definitely a "message" cut, and if there was a need to send a message to the team, Lee certainly played like an asshat enough to earn the right to carry the message.

Lee cut for 2 special teams penalities and then arguing, talking back to the special teams coach. This is a "message" cut!

I liked him as a fourth or even a third receiver. We don't have a reliable 3rd or 4th receiver.

Cardinals cut Lee

The Cardinals cut wide receiver Charles Lee on Monday after he committed two 10-yard penalties on punt returns Sunday and had an argument with special-teams coach Kevin O'Dea on the sidelines.

Lee, a sixth-year veteran, was called for offensive holding in the second quarter and an illegal block in the third.

Lee's agent, Richard De Luca, emphasized that Lee talked to O'Dea on Monday and their relationship is fine.

"I guess Denny (coach Dennis Green) didn't appreciate one of his players talking back to one of his coaches," De Luca said by phone. "Everyone makes a mistake or two. He was their fourth receiver, and he played all the (special) teams for them."

Lee had 11 catches this season for 152 yards, tied with running back Marcel Shipp for third-most receiving yards behind Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin.

The No. 4 spot could fall to seventh-round draft pick LeRon McCoy. McCoy is the only non-starting receiver on the 53-man active roster other than fifth-year veteran Reggie Swinton, who is considered strictly a kick returner.

The Cardinals could look to promote either Carlyle Holiday or Dan Sheldon, both rookie free agents, from the practice squad. They could also re-sign Reggie Newhouse, who was released on the last roster cuts before the season.

Good, I'm happy to get some looks at McCoy and see if he's the real...okay, anyway. But seriously, he seemed to have a rapport with his teammates during Quan's 6 Days to Sunday profile. McCoy was busting on Fitz and Q was laughing along with him. Hopefully he does well on the field, and if he gets to light up a punt returner, he better light him up and not kiss him on the cheek and wish him a nice run.

Ricky Proehl revisited.

Does Dennis Green have a secretary named Ryan? Did Buddy have a secretary named Green?

Bryant Johnson more or less has, I guess if you are actually in the End Zone its worse though.
