Tempe, AZ – The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has signed free agent wide receiver/special teams standout SEAN MOREY to a three-year contract. In accordance with club policy, terms were not disclosed.

Morey (5-11, 200) appeared in all 16 games last season for the Pittsburgh Steelers as a reserve wide receiver and special teams player collecting a team high 21 special teams tackles while also returning eight kickoffs for 202 yards (25.3 yard avg.). He appeared in 15 regular season games and all four playoff contests for the Super Bowl Champion Steelers in 2005 and collected 18 special teams stops.

Originally a seventh-round selection by the New England Patriots in the 1999 NFL Draft out of Brown (241st overall), Morey has appeared in 65 games in his career with 88 special teams tackles and three receptions for 37 yards to go along with 15 kickoff returns for 295 yards (19.7 yard avg.). He signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2003 and was voted the special teams MVP on the team after finishing second on the squad with 28 special teams stops. The 31-year old Marshfield, Massachusetts native signed with Pittsburgh as a free agent in 2004 and played three seasons with the Steelers.

This is an excellent signing. Sean Morey has been a special teams ace with the Steelers and he's a swift, sure handed #5 WR.

21 ST tackles? That's really good. Looks like we have another good addition to ST to go along with Milligan....

21 tackles is amazing. With Morey, Milligan, and Francisco, maybe our special teams won't suck anymore.

Anyone have any idea if he will be a #4 or #5 receiver?

edit, read Mitch's post.

God, I hope our special teams doesn't suck anymore. It looks like Whiz hopes it doesn't either with these signings.

Typically #5 WRs don't get much action...but, with the new wave of quick slot receivers a la Kevin Curtis, Wes Welker, Brandon Stokely, etc...maybe Whiz will work Morey into the offense a little.

If Spurlock wins the punt returner job, the Cards will keep six WRs. Whiz is going to like Spurlock's versatility.

Look, we can't have this. The team didn't let this board know first before it signed him and get our approval. On top of it, there's no money left to sign anyone.

Hopefully, this is the year when our ST play to the level that they should. We always seem to have highly regarded ST players, but crappy ST play.

It's OK, 40yearfan! Morey is a very good signing...and the Cardinals have to find a way to free up more money to sign FB Terrell Smith, OLB TBA and OT TBA. The Cardinals have to finish the job this time around, by covering all their bases.

I remember last year we had signed a bunch of great ST'ers and I was so excited among ohter things to see out ST dominate. I think we had one of the worst ones. By week 4 I was like 'How the heck did it get worse'?

"Tiptoe" should be getting real nervous about his job ...

Are you so eager to defend the front office that you're now making up imaginary criticism? :biglaugh:

I like it. Make Walters expendable and perhaps Arrington too.

It also puts another guy who knows WIZ's system on the field where he can help our guys pick it up.

Your assessments of players always seem like they are taken out of a book. I watched Morey for the last couple years with the Steelers and he is in no way "swift" or a "sure handed #5 WR." Where are you getting that stuff from?
