I didn't.

We didn't even have enough money to resign our own players. I can't understand how anyone expected any kind of significant signing in FA.
You’re absolutely correct, but too many whiners on this board don’t care about reality.

If your idea of a "great offseason" is to be a lot worse than the team that swooned pathetically to end the season on a down note, well, I've got some oceanfront land in Scottsdale to sell ya.

Amen! Some of our fanbase on this board is depressing beyond words. Oh well, they are entitled to be whatever they want to be. Just makes for a crappy board.

Oh, right, when fans feel like their team is a bumbling, stumbling mess, they're supposed to break out the pom poms for some "Ra Ra, Sis Boom Ba" routines. Oh well, folks are entitled to be blind Polyannas. Just makes for a crappy board.

We went through all this last off season. This team sucks. Our FA's suck. X, Y and Z rooms are garbage. We aren't going to win 5 games etc etc etc

And you were all proven wrong. At 7-0, at 10-2 and yes, at 11-6 also. You were wrong.

Now were going to go through the whole thing again. A whole off season of moaning about how we are going to suck. How X room is garbage.

I don't know what this team will be. Nobody thought the Bengals would make the super bowl last year. The Bengals were +15000 in preseason.

The one thing I know is that nobody here, including me, as any clue what this team will be next year. We could sign 5 star FA's and we still wouldn't know. Because there are far more variables go into a season than who you sign or don't sign in FA.

See our 2016 season for reference where we were +800 to win the Superbowl and finished 7-8-1.

I didn't realize a 1st-round playoff plastering was the pinnacle of success. So glad to be "proven wrong" lol

I'm glad the team exceeded my expectations, to a very small extent. Hell, I went giddy with optimism when we were rolling. Kept predicting big wins and was all about KM as an MVP (I even put in a bet on us to win the NFC west and KM to be NFC MVP). When i see cause for optimism, I call it. When I see cause for concern, I call it. I'm not always a darksider, though this team often forces me that way, and I'm certainly not a blind supporter.

lol @ being wrong at "11-6" because that would mean I was wrong at our dumpster-fire end of the season run. And, boy howdy, was that anything BUT vindication of your blind optimism. It doesn't make me happy when we suck, or when I see us sucking in the offseason. I just refuse to be anything but a realist.

You say you don't know where this team will be, but if I told you about a team that finished the season in an absolute nose dive, a team that got creamed in a playoff game with a quitter QB who whines and shows all kinds of negatives despite physical talent, and that the team then stayed mostly pat in FA while needing Edge, WR, OL, DT, etc, while giving big contracts to aging vets, well, what would you say about that team?

I didn't say forget the rest. But it's literally all that gets discussed.

There was a whole lot of good too. More good than bad. The team had 11 wins. 2nd most in history.

Sure it didn't end well but this board acts like we finished 3-14.
I think despite the fact that the team had some success in the regular season the following had a negative impact on the fan base. The third straight season of second half collapses(an ongoing problem that shows no signs of being fixed). The inability to win a game when it counted most and to put the cherry on top of it all and what probably left the most bitter taste in the mouths of fans was the epic failure of stupendous proportions in the playoff game. I think if the team had at least been competitive and lost that game maybe fans wouldn't be so harsh however the absolute embarrassment at every level from being ill prepared to take the field to amazing crappy performances by certain players are still etched in fans minds. Add to this the continued rewarding of a bumbling GM and HC apparently without consequences befuddles fans even further.

Moving forward to present day and what fans have seen to this point is a team that re-signed some decent players back into the fold and now has weaker positions with the departure of players who filled some positions at least adequately and thus far there has been no apparent effort to fill the holes with available players. It appears to fans that the historic strategy of filling these holes with older injury prone grizzled vets or under performing players with prove it one year deals will continue into the unforeseeable future which makes building a team that can compete year in and year out a highly improbable result.

All that is true, but that is not all that happened. It was still, as a whole, a positive season. There was a hell of a lot of good.

I'm not suggesting people shouldn't talk about the bad. But it's all that gets talked about, as if the good didn't happen at all.

It's fine to say "Yeah we sucked that at the end, it was disappointing, but there was a lot of great games too and overall was pretty decent".

I have more faith on him playing the edge then ilb with Vance Joseph defense
Btw is not something unrealistic, he has done it already in college
Has length weight and speed to be effective there, unfortunately he has not a good coach to improve his technique

Well, it kind of goes like that old cliche': "It's not how you start, it's how you finish.". It's great to start out hot but it's, as we saw, disaster when you finish cold.

Sure, but there are 22 teams who did worse. In a league of 32 teams being in the top 10 is nothing to moan about.

We weren't in the top 8; we were in the top 14, and pretty well 14th at that. We had a worse playoff performance than the Stillers. Playoffs matter. Regular season gets you squat.

We pick at #23 mate. Draft is ordered according to final standings. Sorry, top 10.
We still weren't one of the 10 best teams last year, as the playoffs clearly showed. We're nowhere close to top 10 now. Probably around 15-17, as things stand. I don't see it getting much better. Could get a lot worse.

The Cardinals lost to the best team...so I don't know if your logic holds.
