my comments on the refs:

they weren't that bad, BUT

terrible ball spots
and on gandy's penalty, he was for sure pushed into willis, making it look way worse than it was.
other than that, the refs weren't too bad.

With only 4 penalties called against the Cards, I hardly think we can say the refs were trying to stick it to us.

Agreed. The spots were bad, but otherwise I didn't think they were lopsided with their calls.

They never showed a replay of Q's catch near the sideline where he really reached forward for the first down. I thought it would be close, but they spotted it more than 2 yards back. I wish we could have seen the angle from the sideline.

Yeah I agree. They made a few mistakes on both sides. I have seen far worse.

I would say a typical NFL game. Cards got some good calls and some bad calls. The 15 yard penalties against Gandy and the roughing on Warner pretty much offset each other. Gandy's cost the Cards a TD. The roughing on Warner gave the Cards a first down.

That should be called everytime. Two hands to the helmet will get called everytime.

Gandy was actually running from so far back one of the other 49er players tried to intercept him before he got to Willis. That push you were talking about was a guy trying to defend Willis. I don't know what Gandy was mad about but he was going after Willis that was just a dumb play.

Disagree. I thought the refs were more than fair. Were the Cardinals shorted on some of the spots? Yes. But so were the Niners.

This officiating crew was even-handed and that is all you can ask for IMO.

That's exactyl how I saw it as well.

For several years now "cleaning up" the pile gets you a flag, as it should be.
I like hard hitting and aggresive play as long as it's clean.
If that had been a 49er O-lineman and say Dansby getting clocked we would all be up in arms.

The refs made terrible spot calls all game on both sides. There were a few Gore runs that they spotted way behind where the ball was when he was downed. The bright side is they were consistently bad on their spots, and didn't seem to favor one team or the other.

I don't know. When they showed the replay on TV it appeared that Gandy was coming in to "Push the Pile". However before he got there a DB pushed him enough that he was redirected into Willis.

I agree.

I thought the Gandy penalty was justified, and hope Whiz speaks to him on it. It doesn't take long before questionable late hits turn to flags because the team has a history of them.

As for the Warner roughing call, I thought it might have been a bit ticky-tacky, but so long as it gets called both ways...I'm fine with it.

Can someone remind me, if a QB is scrambling/out of the pocket and he gets hit to the head, is it still a penalty? Or does that call only get made while the QB is in the pocket, much like intentional grounding?

Thanks.
