Well, I guess I should feel happy about a W, but let me say this, we have problems in several areas...

next week in Seattle wont be as forgiving.

a win is a win

look forward to the game next week - clancy and his aggressive schemes could give seattle troubles - seattle has a good run D, but the pass D scares me, I look for alexander to bounce back and for the hawks to get some good pressure

should be a fun one - will just have to avoid all radio until I can get back from camping to watch it on the tivo

congrats on the opening win

The 9ers just don't believe they should lose to us.

No matter how hard you punch them in the face they still believe, kudos to them, it should not have been so close at all.

Lot's of glaring errors that are good for the coaching staff to hammer on the team this week, they deserve to be treated much worse than if they'd have lost the game.

Practice should be brutal, young teams need to learn how to be champions and not let teams hang around like we let the 9ers hang around.

49ers are better offensively than I thought, about as I expected defensively, they are somewhat tough to run on, you beat them by throwing on them.

Next weeks road game will be the true test, if this team plays like this they lose by 21 or more.

They need to lose some of the aggression against the 9ers on defense, Norv ate that stuff up, they need to blitz a few times and otherwise just play some pretty simple run stuffing packages.

And what about the penalties? Penalty after penalty and it seemed like every flag was thrown because of a Cardinal infraction. It looked like we had the better team and should have put this away before half; instead, the 49ers were in the thing until the final second.

Penalties were a killer last year. This year, too, I fear.

Did the tv guys explain what happened with the fourth timeout for SF?

How does that work?

Of course, Seattle wasn't too impressive themselves.

Most teams weren't all that impressive. Its the 1st week of the season folks it was going to be messy

People had their expectations WAYYYYYYYYYY too high.

To me it's set up as well as it could be, had Seattle lost that game we'd be in a deep deep hole, as of now, it's only ankle deep.

They might just be a bit complacent, DG also used to have a sizeable advantage over Holmgren head to head, he's lost some of that the last two years but still he knows him pretty well.

I think if we could sneak a win out there it'd be huge.

Also needs to be mentioned that they (Seahawks) are playing a good Giants team after the game with us. They could overlook us easily

Won't happen. No way. The Hawks are pissed that they couldn't execute and Holmgren is gonna have them fired up to put on a woopin for their home opener. We can NOT play like we did or Alexander will have 125 yrds before the half

Never say never. I'm not saying that its likely but it could easily happen

Most of the stuff that that went wrong today is very fixable

That's the thing, as frustrating as it was, nothing left you feeling OMG it's over we're doomed, that's refreshing in itself.

I wouldn't say 'easily' fixable. Our D got shredded and our O-line is not very good. They have alot of work ahead of 'em.
Another team, maybe, but Holmgren will not let the team overlook us, especially after us winning. Plus you gotta consider it's their home opener. I have a feeling we're gonna get their "A" game

You really have to step back though and see why we got shredded on D, it was all overpursuit shredding for the most part.

Which is exactly what Holmgren would try to do and so we at least got practice at dealing with it.

The Hawks are a very good team, we are legit dogs in a pretty big way but as was said by others, we have relatively little to lose and a small chance at an upset.

I'd say the odd are 70/30 we'll lose, but that's better than nothing and it's why they play the games.

Our D got shredded because they didn't stay disciplined and not going for fakes as well as missed tackles.

Missed tackles - Fixable
Penalties (that were the main reason the 9ers were in the game) - VERY Fixable
Not overcommitting on fakes - a little tougher to fix in the span of a week but still fixable

Our Oline was starting a guy at RT that signed with the team this week.

People were expecting midseason form on the first game of the season. It doesn't work that way, in fact if you looked at the majority of the games they were won rather ugly

As far as the Seahawks I'm not saying its likely but it is human nature to overlook a team that they feel is worse then them especially right before playing a much tougher opponent.

No excuse for missed tackles and it obviously isnt fixable. It has been a problem of this D for awhile going back to last season.

Penalties isnt just first game jitters etc..... Its also a sign of being undisciplined and bad coaching. Both things we have seen before under this staff.

As fas as the OL? Well they could have kept Bridges or started Gorin. They havebeen here longer right? Does that mean it would have been better based on length of time with the team?

We can score on anybody. Our Defense can play better, specially upfront. I think after we look at film and see what we let them get away with and what we did to ourselves with personal fouls, we will be a better prepared team. The good news is we won. THe other good news is the O-line has a week under their belt and not to be left out Warner was awesome. I've never seen Larry drop two and Q drop one that could have gone all the way and sealed the deal. Those kind of things are less likely to repeat themselves. I think we will play the Hawks straight up and the team that controls the clock will win.

They are both fixable if the coach puts an emphasis on tackling, however thats up to him and Pendergast to do that. We don't know (not even with your hatred for Green making you jump to conclusions)

They have been here longer but Gorin getting worked by Denver's backup DE isn't exactly a way to help make the statement of keeping his job. Bridges isn't good at all

He made the right decision IMO but its not going to work immediately as much as we want it to.

Hatred for green? NO. Its called stating the obvious. If you want to give him a free pass for problems that constantly happen under his watch thats fine. But dont say thats hate by me. The talent here is undoubtedly better. So it must be coaching. Im basing the OL comments on you saying its a time factor. Do you think that all of a sudden this team is going to just start making most of their tackles?

If they actually work on it during practices, yes. Even last year when we had problems tackling and then ran tackling drills during the week it drastically improved. The problem was we would go bak into old habits a few weeks later.

They need to put an emphasis on tackling but that doesn't mean its absolutely unfixable. Just need to do it more often and keep it in players heads to actually wrap up (I am amazed however at how bad of a problem that this has become league wide).

Thats up to the coaches and I'm guessing with the extra pressure on Green, that he'll put emphasis on it.

That wasn't even the main problem anyways. The overpursuit and stupid penalties were the main problem and some of that is just on the players.

Correct Bridges was garbage.

I agree the D is fixable. I think it will be fixed but it was garbage today I understand the angst.

The run game I don't know, James is really good, but the line is lacking talent and too many guys are playing out of position, God forbid we have a couple of injuries.
