I would be fine with something like 7-8, where the guaranteed money is frontloaded.

I'm fine with it being all gauranteed, frontloaded and backloaded and loaded in the middle.

Im really glad to hear this got done for so many reasons but primarily it puts in a good position in defense reconstructing terms. Now at OLB we have two good vets who though not elite anymore will do a good job and combined are an upgrade over what he had last year. Behind them we have three youngsters (including Baggs as a rookie) with potential who know that if they take the chances they get given they'll put serious pressure on the vets and may win the job by next year. Because that hole has been addressed in terms of improving the position overall compared to last year it takes SOO much pressure of the draft and allows to address in essence three positions in the premium rounds of the draft which are ILB, NT and CB. Even at CB we are not down to the bare bones but could do with quality upgrade which is nice position to be in actually as it gives you an option of taking a CB as the best BPA rather then having to look for one as you are so desperate. Due to this it essentially leaves us with two main needs which are ILB and NT and as this draft is deep in the first and fairly deep in the latter this puts us in a good position to do well in the draft again.

So i love the trigger effect this has on the defense reconstructing.

Im guessing this must've been what TweetyBird was so excited about although i still hope it is more likely about an extension for him.

I'm happy. Although Porter won't transform this defense, he'll definitely help with one of our biggest weaknesses. The money seems a bit high, but as long as the guarantees are reasonable and guys like 9-0 and Breaston are still extended, it isn't unreasonable. I'm also much more comfortable with our young OLBs learning the nuances of a pass rusher from Porter rather than Haggans and Baggs. If nothing else, the postgame quotes just got a lot more interesting.

I thought Selvie was sweet when I watched him and I looked up his projection after I posted and he is slotted as a 2nd or third rounder. The thing with the OLB position now is that even if we pick one, they would most likely not make the active roster unless they are a very high pick, and all of the guys I want as OLB sleepers are third or fourth rounders and we should be spending those picks on guys that will definitely make the team. I think we are all set with the position. We have two young guys in Davis and Brown. Two vets who can still play in Porter and Haggans (I think its great we are pairing them together again) and an experiment in Baggs.

Now we just need to spend picks on NT, ILB (I would like two picks here, one WILB and one SILB), and CB and we will have a great blend of experience and youth on the D with good depth at every position. I'm actually really excited to watch this defense next year.

I like your thinking Big D.---- couple of ILB's, NT, CB, then maybe an OT or QB, either of which we would have time to develop. I would really like us to get real solid up the middle of our Defense. So what if we build it from the outside in, (just so long as we build it). Haggans and Porter ARE solid starters at OLB, and they should do fine mentoring Davis, Brown, and Baggs. We put a young NT in the mix with Watson, and add a thumper and a cover guy to our ILB's through the draft, and by putting Rhodes with A-Dub at safety, we will have done very well this off season. Good Job so far, Graves, Whiz, and scouting group. Like Singletary is prone to say, "I like this kind of party". :)
