I agree, Boston strikes me as one of those guys that can play hard but rarely plays smart. Recently he hasn't done either.

If you watch Wilks' press conferences, I think it's pretty clear he's not coming back.

This is 100% a front office move for 2019. This is a de facto Keim Time signing. My guess is Keim initially wanted to retain him but got outbid by Washington.
