So it's not up to Kolb to notice an unblocked rusher? And rolling out to the side that player is rushing from isn't his fault?

They didn't blitz, the guy was unblocked because the RT blocked the wrong guy.

If you're saying Kolb is supposed to know before the snap that they won't block the guy who already has 2 sacks and will instead have 5 guys block 3 rushers and leave that guy unblocked, I don't know what to say.

No. It would be nice if he could pick up a blitz now and then, but he cant be expected to see them all. However, it he should step FORWARD in the pocket rather than run out of it every damn play. He does not take a safety there if he isnt running straight backwards.

The only consolation I can take from is that we gave the rapist a pounding.

Thanks for keeping it real Russ.

I'm not watching it except on Game Channel and I appreciate the perspective.

It's gone past the point where I need to watch the actual live action to know that what we have here is a good old fashioned cluster.

I'm sure Kolb isn't as bad as some on here are claiming, I never figured the rest of the team would implode this completely around him and he isn't the kind of QB that could effectively deal with that, there's probably only about two who could in the history of the game.

I'm sure he's doing a lot wrong but honestly there's a lot wrong with this team, not just the QB.

Again there was NO pocket, he was moving right as the playcall was, but Woodley was right there. If he steps forward he's goign into Woodley.

He wanted to throw to Housler but Woodley was there so quickly he had to give Rob time to get off the line so ironically it's not grounding.

He pumpfaked hoping Woodley would jump, he didn't.

He's not played well again today but that was not his fault, you don't leave Woodley unblocked there by design, if you do, it's a terrible design.

No Kolb has been bad at times today. Missed a wide open Housler for a TD. Missed an open Fitz on the last drive on 3rd down, terrible throw.

But the Safety is completely because we didn't block their best pass rusher and that wasn't a missed blitz pickup because they didn't blitz.

There is a lot wrong with this team. We have a bad pass rush, our secondary constantly blows assignments (our D coordinator seems clueless). But just like last year, the biggest hole is at QB. Our QB play is so poor we dont have a chance to win games and are constantly playing from behind because of stupid early turnovers.

I would normally agree with you. I hate being around negative people and I hate being negative. It's hard on you physically, emotionally and mentally and it's not too much help socially either. That said, how can you still be positive after watching the effort and performance of these guys over the past year and a half? I want to be upbeat but I really can't find much good to say about this Cardinals team, top to bottom. I don't want to wallow in the negativity but I can't find my way out of it.

... Woodley came from the far right side edge, Kolb CAN step forward, he does not need to be doing a 15 step drop. He is throwing while running backwards on almost every single play no matter when pressure is coming. If he is moving forward as soon as he finished his (what should be a 3 step drop) he is not in the situation to be either pump faking or taking a safety to begin with.

Kolb tries to step up in pocket. Guess what, no pocket.

At this point Kolb could be a complete bust or he could simply be shellshocked or it could be a combination of both but it sounds like the rest of the team isn't helping a whole lot either.

From what I've seen:

The owners won't hire a true GM.

Our GM is iffy at best IMO at signing quality players and allows the coach way too much input into personell.

The coaches are in over their heads in an attempt to fix this and what results is basically your typical bad team where things are wrong mostly all over and one problem bleeds into the next.

A quality GM would hire a quality coach who would hire quality assitants who would then coach the team and re-arrange the pieces we do have as well as begin working on filling in the missing pieces we don't have and you probably would see some improvement right away.

The question of would Kolb be a part of that process after they had started is an interesting one, hard to say but I'm guessing at this point the answer would be no if they were given the resources to address that but that's just a guess.

The problem then would become, if not him then who?

Given his cap number it's an ugly spot to be in and he'd probably still get one season in full after this one to shake this off, just a guess.
