I still have a tough time seeing how it was worth it to make this move. You can't pay 2.8 mil for him next year, and the two wins you got from him made it more difficult to get a QB in the draft.

I said the same when we traded for him. It made no sense at the time and makes less sense with hindsight.

Only way this works is through some miracle Wilks makes us a playoff contender next year and AP and DJ become Ingram and Kamara.

That's what I can see happening. They both have similar attributes as ingram(petterson) and Kamara(Johnson). Petterson being the up the middle guy and Johnson being the all around back. Hope they can make it work.

Do you crybabies not remember that we got AP before Carson was hurt? Seriously some of your crap-on-the-front-office antics are getting beyond pathetic. The team was in win now mode and thank god they were. If I wanted to root for a team that blew things up as much as some of you want I would move to Cleveland. It was absolutely the right move at the time for what the team was trying to accomplish. This negative hindsight ******** e very time a move doesn't work just makes some of you absolutely unbearable sometimes.

Had he not gotten injured and was able to produce, the trade would have been worth it. 2018 isn't guaranteed, so he'll likely be cut.

I remember that we got AP before Palmer got hurt...and I also remember that we still had a bad offensive line, and a 38 year old QB. I still remember that I thought the potential payoff at the time WAS NOT worth the 6th round pick we were giving up for it. Peterson wasn't cheap then, he wasn't young then, and he was a very limited player.

Also, not trading away valuable assets on a short sighted and unrealistic notion is not tanking, it is being self aware.

That is like saying if Drew Stanton produced, he would be a good starting QB. But, because he didn't, he isn't.

AP is not near the class of RB that Ingram is right now.

he is the main reason we won his first game, maybe his third too.

That's about all I got.

True, but still I good combo between Peterson and Johnson if you ask me. The only issue I see is the money. Would the cards want to pay close to $3 mill for Peterson?

I don't remember many wanting the Cardinals to lose at this point in time for a better draft pick.

Perhaps I'm wrong.

I don't think losing a 6th round draft pick in this draft is the end of the world as they have comp picks.

You mean that ill-fated 'win now' mode decision that set us back a season?

It’s not hindsight when you call the trade dumb at the time it happened.

I’d rather AP not be on the team next year. He’s washed up. Trade was stupid then & it’s stupid now.

Nothing wrong with the trade, at all. When you lose the best RB in the NFL during the first game of the season, and then have literally the worst running attack in the NFL, you have to do something to increase production. Giving up a 6th round pick for Peterson is hardly a terrible decision, even considering he had to go on IR.

That lost 6th round pick will be forgotten when we get our compensatory picks and still have 8-9 picks in this draft.

The problem with this is that at OverThe Cap they are predicting that we would lose our 6th round comp pick because of the AP trade. Thus, if they are correct, the AP trade cost us 2 6th rounders and right now we only have 7 draft picks:

1, 2, 3, 3 (comp), 4 (comp), 5, 7 (comp)

Not sure that Peterson would go against compensatory picks. I’ll believe it when I see it, but all indications I’ve seen have us as no less than 8 picks in the draft, and even in your scenario, that’s not bad.

Darren Urban wrote a blog today about it---he also predicts we are not going to get the conditional 7th round pick from the Raven for G Tony Bergstrom (who only lasted there 6 weeks). We traded away the 4th (Bears), the 6th (AP) and 7th (Cooper).
