Fantastic signing by the Cards. DRC, Hood and McFadden form a good CB trio. Not to mention that Ralph Brown is a pretty handy player as well.

We now have depth a corner! I can't believe I am saying that. The Cardinals NEVER have depth at corner.

I agree with you about Ralph Brown. He made some nice plays last season. I'd like to keep him for depth.

You know that 4th cornerback spot will be interesting. Ralph Brown has played well but I know the team likes Micheal Adams too.

He is great on special teams and he always seems to stay with receivers when given a chance to play. He is fast and has good quickness. Of course the only drawback is his size. He is only 5'8".

I like him though and it wouldn't surprise me to see him make the final 53.

I'm still not sold on Hood.. He was notoriously burned on numerous big plays and the opposing coaches keyed in on him - as previously mentioned in this thread. Though to his credit some of those big plays were great catches by the receiver.

As for Bryant and Santo's article...
His speed is just slightly above average and could be exposed against the faster wideouts in the league. His hip turn and change-of-direction skills are also just slightly above average, but he has very good body control and rarely takes false steps, which make up for some of his potential shortcomings. He can be overly aggressive at times going for the big play and will sometimes bite on double moves, although he has improved in this area.
During training camp, put him on Fitz the whole time and he should be good to go :)

We will have great competition in camp at DB. That alone will improve all of them.

This is a nice write up with both Sando and Williamson giving us a lot of credit.

Like I said in an earlier post. This is what good teams do. They add to their strengths. We now have arguabaly the best WR corp and Secondary in all of football.

I think this is one of the more underatted signings in all of FA. I would like to see us target some depth OL still though.

Great signing! He can step right in there and start opposite side of DRC next year. :grabs:

Why? Whay exactly have we added other than an ok CB? Our pass rushers are all old and washed up for the most part at this point.

There's always the draft too but I am guessing the knoweldge of a known mediocre quantity in Clancy compared with an unknown quantity in Davis has people excited.

If he can build on what we were doing and just have guys be more disciplined I think we will all be happy.

we were one of the most penalized teams in the nfl last year, gave up huge plays[more than our share], had 4-5 uninspired games last season. to me a DC's job is to fire that defense up to never give up 56,or 47 points. we gave up in those games, the defense literally gave the hell up. does that bother anyone else as bad as it bothers me? maybe i need more prozac, but it just sticks in my craw! we scored 427 pts. and gave up 426! yet when "they wanted to" they shut teams down.
so i think davis has his work cut out for him this year and he needs more pieces. we got 1 quality cb, now we need wright. aw and dansby is just paperwork for the fo to get done, and it's VITAL.wright has nothing to do with extending aw or Dansby, we really can do 2 things at one time, fo. If that's why you are bringing in the extra help, i'm all in. if turffights start, we'll get dockett in there to clean house with all of you. GIT UM DONE fo, you are doing well this offseason. keep that there pedal on the right to the floor.

Mike Wright sounds good, but do you really think he would make that big of a difference? If he was that huge of an individual towards a teams defensive performance, the Pats wouldn't let him go. Wright would help our team, but he is not going to individually change everything. Maybe Peppers would do that, but Wright does not make a top 10 defense. Also, AW and Dansby are not "just paperwork", those are major situations that need new contracts. Granted, it can wait until after the draft, but you seem to take those situations lightly.

If McFadden can simply make open field tackles the defense will be vastly improved.

anks106, what i meant by the way i probably misspoke, was to say that AW and Dansby needed to be done this offseason, even that it's vital to get them done. I've been around this team since 1988, so I'm a newbie compared to alot of you. i meant to say in 20 years the team's fo is known to do 1 thing at a time and if they want the players they target such as wright they need to pick up the pace a little. 1 player does make a difference; read what people are saying about the mcfadden signing. especially if he is targeted by whizz.i may be completely off base but i never think lightly of things i write to paper.

Thats true, and I think he will instantly be our most physical corner. I like having a guy a little more physical across from DRC with his superb athletic ability. I think they will complement each other nicely.
