And then what? Trade him next year when he only has 1 year left on his agreement? Why is that better for the Cards??

It's better than signing him to a deal that is economically bad for the team. And, it's better than getting chumped on a trade. Plus, you are likely to get what we had this last season --- a pissed off, unhappy Boldin who played his ass off and made the Pro Bowl.

My thoughts -

1. Cards are stubborn just like Q. They wont just trade him for anything and if they don't get what they wont they just wont trade him, so I don't think it is a foregone conclusion that he will be trade.

2. They let this out in the media for multiple reasons. One to keep Q in the loop and not piss him off even more. Two, to put the NFL on notice that we are taking phone calls, thus creating more of a so called bidding war. Three, they said all the right things about not actively trying to trade him which tells other teams you better come with your A game and your best offer. I think the way they did it today was smart on so many levels.

3. I think depending on where the picks lay a 1st and a 3rd would do it, if its in the high 20's I think they want more and the would mostly want a 2010 pick because 10 total picks this year will be hard enough to make the roster and PS.

4. Anyone know of any sales about to come up on jerseys because I only own a Boldin.:bang:

If you have to. There is no urgency to trade him. We dont even have to trade him then considering he would again be under contract. The longer he waits the older he gets thus the less oney he gets. Its within his best interest to get a reasonable deal from us if he can/isnt traded.

Don't see it this way at all... If he is here this year, the turmoil caused by all of the speculation and second-guessing will simply not be beneficial. More importantly, at the end of this season, Q will be further pissed off as the Cards will not have made the contract extension - or, if they did, it will simply not be what he feels he's worth.
So, trade him now while his stock is at its high...

Just don't see it that way at all. I think we will see some pretty tasty offers... if nothing else, some high draft picks. I don't see the team getting "chumped" at all...

The Cutler situation had an impact to this announcement. I dont think Grave or WHiz wanted to be "caught" talking Trade with teams fearing Anquan might really get pissed off. Read Whiz's last quote.

However, unless you live under a rock, everyone is aware they have been entertaining offers from other clubs for months, but this thing may be close to getting done now. Perhaps thats why Rosenhaus and Boldin are tight lipped?

I think we'll probably get some good offers. But, we aren't going to trade him just to trade him. We aren't going to see a replay of the Aeneas Williams trade debacle. At least, we'd BETTER not see anything near that weak go down with Boldin.

This post hits the nail on the head. Personally, I like it. Let the bidding begin. A first and a third could give us 5 picks in the top 95. The possibilities are endless.

He's getting traded. We are being told now, softening the blow and seeing how the story will be received.

It's being received well on the radio..

All but done deal, IMO.

You'd just give me more money anyway, daddy warbucks.

This reminds me of when they talked up levi brown pre-draft. Softening the fanbase.

The only way I'll be down with a bet shane, is bankroll for bankroll. My 3 point something mill against your billion. :D

Stupid move by the team.

The Cardinals better not trade to Philly, Giants, or the Bears.

If the Cardinals do that, it would be the first sign that this team is not thinking about the Superbowl.

Why give up one of your most important peices to your current system, AND at the same time give another Superbowl contender in the NFC or AFC a elite player that can make the difference on their team.

If they trade Boldin then they wasted money on re-signing Warner, furthermore, missed the boat on re-signing Dansby, and Wilson.

It would be an absolute horrific move, that counter acts all their moves that were made before it.

And to go on, it would show off the inability of the Cardinals to keep their core players, with Dansby, and Boldin either walking out the front door, or about to in Dansby's case.

This is a bad sign for a season of going back to the doldrums of the NFL basement. The instant they trade Boldin, they go from possibly going 9-7 or 10-6, to going 7-9, 8-8 if they are lucky, and the possibility of going 6-10.....................6-10 FOR PETE'S SAKE !!!!!

"We are having to weigh a lot of other factors into the process and timing is one of those things as far as getting something done.” - Graves.

Yeah, like Graves' inability to anything done with the players on the current roster. PA-THETIC.

So there it is. Right out in the open. Finally. Whether we trade Anquan or not, it's nice to know we have moved past overpaying for our "face-of-the-franchise". No player should be untouchable.

Anquan is unhappy and is making himself a pest and a distraction. Now we'll see if he has real market value and we'll also find out if his salary demands are out of line. Q can make or break his own trade value by communicating to prospective teams how much money will make him play hard.

My opinion is that no team will trade for him without first agreeing to a money deal with Q.

Well said from top to bottom. My guess is if it is Jints it will include one of their front 7 + draft choice...Philly I believe will put together the best package of draft choices with Minn a close second (since Cutler came onthe NFC Central scene). I believe i he goes we will see Doucet exceed some peoples expectations..

Well, accepting for a moment that this trade occurs, it would make the Cards players, in all likelihood, for either Pettigrew, Moreno or Wells with the earlier pick.

In the sweepstakes for English, Sintim, Johnson and, perhaps, one of the USC linebackers at #31.

And, contenders for either a running back or centre/guard at the end of the second round.

Will this make the Cards a better team in ’09 is subject for debate, but if in the end we are a top 5 scoring offence, our scoring “D” improves, and we win at least 10 games, then it may be well worth it.

Is he the most important piece to the team?
Is he the make or break reason for Warners success?

Scoring average for games Boldin started last year = 27.15
Scoring average for games Boldin did not start = 27.5
Furthermore what was are record without Boldin last year.

I love the guy but he just is not the most important piece to the team anymore, and he is not the make or break reason for Warner's success. Last season proved that without a shadow of a doubt. I would love to keep the guy but I just cant agree with your stance.

Also we still have 3 months to work out a deal with Dansby, and 10 months to get a deal done with Wilson. Why the agnst on losing them already? Sounds like the same angst some had with Warner.
