Cardinals free-agent cornerback Renaldo Hill stopped by the team’s facility Monday, but it was just to pick up a check, not to sign a contract.
For now, Hill waits to see if he’ll have reason to return.
The Cardinals, who have just one experienced cornerback under contract, are "definitely in the picture," Hill said, but other than that, he doesn’t know where he will sign.
"I’m just being patient," Hill said. "It seemed like whenever we were going to make a move someone else gets into the picture."
Hill admitted he may take a one-year contract and try free agency again next offseason, although teams now likely will wait until after the draft to sign any more players.
David Macklin is the lone Cards corner from 2004 currently with Arizona. Duane Starks was traded, while Hill and Robert Tate are free agents. The Cardinals are expected to draft at least one cornerback.
RAYNOCH SHOWS
Linebacker Raynoch Thompson, who has had an up-and-down relationship with the team, showed up for workouts and vowed to work hard for the team if they kept him around.
"It’s a case where if they don’t want me here, I don’t want to be here," Thompson said. "I don’t want to be nowhere I’m not wanted. Other than that, I want to be here. We have a good core of guys, we made some key offseason acquisitions, and it looks like we are heading in the right direction."
Thompson said his grievance against the team — the Cardinals withheld some of his signing bonus in 2004 after he was suspended for four games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy — will be heard in May.
WARNER READY
New quarterback Kurt Warner said he wasn’t sure when he will begin throwing to Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald and the rest of the receivers, but said he was ready "as soon as possible."
"So much of this offense is based on timing and anticipation," Warner said, "and that comes down to actually being on the field and doing those things and getting a feel for your receivers."
EXTRA POINTS
Defensive end Bertrand Berry, who played in the Pro Bowl and took part in NBA All-Star weekend and other events the past few months, knows he has had a busy offseason. But he isn’t complaining.
"A lot of it’s been self-inflicted," he quipped. . . .
Running back Marcel Shipp, who said he would be ready to play when on-field practices begin later this month, isn’t worried about talk the Cardinals will draft a running back.
"It’s the way of the world, and it’s been like that since I have been here," Shipp said. "I have to compete for the job every year, so it’s nothing new to me.". . .
Defensive lineman Kenny King said the plan is to try him both at left defensive end and under tackle as part of the rotation. King also has put on 22 pounds — from 270 to 292 — and looks more muscular.

If more is better then the fat guy they buried in a piano box should have his bronze mug in the Hall of Fame.
