My god the excuses, the guy did he best to get a safety the play before, grounding while doing 360s in the pocket, that last play he takes the snap in the endzone and chose to tuck the ball quickly rather than at least ATTEMPT a pass to the hot read.

Personally I think he cant even see the hot read in a confined pocket. Its the only fathomable reason why he never attempts passes in those situations. He gets pressured and he either stops even looking for receivers or completely forgets where they are supposed to be.

Again, he didn't handle the pressure well but it all starts with taking the ball out on the return. Then throwing when even we were all expecting what happened, and then the OL doesn't block. I agree he should have gotten the ball out but he shouldn't be put in that position to begin with.

How many safeties did we have last season exactly like that, 3 or 4? At some point the coaches have to know when not to throw the ball

Stew playing badass. Let's not be negative. Stew playing well, Adub is leading this team in badassery. Just total badass. He was in on all plays and they went away from him. Now other dudes like Stew picking up slack.

There's no excuses, it's just football. I think we've all agreed when they aren't playing that Kolb sucks, but when the protection sucks we gotta call a spade a spade. It was horrible.

The protection was bad, but you cant take a safety! Its inexcusable! Especially after he did his best to get one on the first play.

Throw it to the hot read! Facing pressure near the endzone is something he needs to be able to deal with.

Kolb reacted to the perceived non-pickup by Williams, but he did pick him up. Once he completed his oh crap move, the little less than mediocre tackle play doomed the play.

To be fair to Acho, he will get beaten like a dog every time trying to cover McFadden out of the backfield. It's a mismatch, with our D gambling on the rush getting there before Acho is exposed. Thankfully McFadden screwed it up to help Acho out.
Yeah and I'm not a Palmer fan, but he will sit in there all day and get it off while taking the hit. (must be nice) :D

Agreed on the last point. Its preseason, so other than Kolb's personal embarrassment, they didnt have anything to risk on that play, at its a situation Kolb needs to show he can handle. But I would hope during the season they would run the ball while snapping on their own 1, despite it being 3rd and long.

I think CKW called that play on purpose. He wanted to test Kolb in a high-pressure situation, backed up on his own goal line. And Kolb failed that test.

Hot read? Who would that be on that play, you tell me. It's a play-action idiocy, there's no hot read. They run play-action after we haven't even established the run, which is ridic. Nobody bites on that if we aren't gouging them. There's no hot read, there's just everyone covered and Kolb turning around into big dudes wanting to kill his ass.

Bad protection on that play. Batiste and Brown got blown up off the edge. He didn't trust Williams enough to step up, even though Williams is the ONLY one who held his block and did well (I didn't know Ryan Williams could pick up a block like that).

That drive certainly took the steam out of the good start. I agree with it being poor playcalling there. Also could have choked Jefferson running that ball out.

Let's have another good drive here.

I think there should be a differentiation in the rule. If you're on the ground and lunging forward should be one thing, but going from an upright position to down low is another.

What Dockett did should not be illegal. Otherwise you are saying if you aren't in an upright position, you might as well sit down.
