I salute Dockett and it does not take away fond memories of him playing for us... I hope they might bring back Tom Kelly if the youth is not up to par, Rucker played well for us and I think he was the deciding factor for the Cardinals

Like most here, sad from a personal perspective, probably for the best from a football perspective.

Walterfootball.com rates Docket #21 on 2015 free agent tackles and this is their blurb:

#21 Darnell Dockett, DE/DT, Cardinals. Age: 34.
Darnell Dockett missed all of 2014 with a torn ACL. The season before, Dockett was just sub par. He'll be 34 in May, and it's unlikely that he'll ever be anything close to the dominant player he once was. He can probably still be a strong backup, however.

This saddens me.

Me too.

His genuine passion for the game, and for the Cardinals was special. A unique character who stuck to his personal beliefs but also matured and learned to be a leader of men.

These are the times where fans understand that it is a business but this kind of move SUCKS! Just SUCKS!

He will be missed, and I hope him the best. A guy like Ed Stinson may be able to replace the 34 year old Dockett, but he is not going to replace the player Dockett was in his prime. One of the quickest off the snap I have every seen. I will always remember the forced fumble in the Atlanta playoff game. IMO, that started that amazing playoff run.

This is like releasing Wilson too me.

For me, nothing was worse than seeing A-Dub go, Adrian Wilson is one of my favorite players on and off the field.

A close second was when this organization traded Anquan Boldin for peanuts.

Seeing Dockett go sucks, but with all due respect to him, its not on those levels for me.

I'm so freaking angry. I don't know if we've ever had a player more loyal to this organization. I hate seeing him go. HATE. IT.

Seeing Jackie Smith playing for the Cowboys and Jim Hart in a Redskins uniform are 2 moves that still tick me off thinking about players leaving.Jackie Smith was not offered a contract because team was going with younger guys JvCain who died in camp and Cards went thru several TE`s and ignored Smiths offer to comeback .Jim Hart was not offered a deal and simply wasn`t ready to quit so he played backup for the Skins.

Uh, Adrian Wilson??

I root for the logo, not the player. If he comes back great, if not I'd rather they be contending for a SB instead of trying to appease players.

Smart franchises let players go when it's time.

I bet he will be back. Probably wanted too much $$$. I don't have a problem with Keim making the move to prove his market value. It still is a business.

I disagree that Dockett was "subpar" in 2013. He was back to being disruptive and if I remember correctly he cleaned up a lot of plays and put the lick on people like at Seattle versus the Beast---I think Darnell had 4.5 sacks too, which for DTs aint too shabby.

I am thinking (hoping) that the two sides just came to a stopping point on his market value and were far apart and decided that this was the only way to know for sure.

I wouldnt be surprised if he lets the Cardinals match any offer he gets.

I agree Mitch, he was solid with some flashes of brilliance but never even close to being subpar... a great Cardinal!

Yep it stings us fans as much or more than the player when our favs are shown the door.

You brining up baby face Harts name made me think back & find a pic I took of him at Busch in '84 which I believe was his last year...still hurts seeing him in that uni

Roy Green finished a year with the Eagles and Terry Metcalf not only finished up with the Redskins too... but after the NFL, finished up in the Canadian league!

Yeah, one of my favorites from the first game I saw him play. It's a long shot that he ever plays here again, but there has to be some kind of a chance. I don't doubt BA loves the guy.

This sucks for nfl fans and players even owners. The nfl needs to fix this issue.
