Cards Direct Focus Toward No. 3 Selection In 2004 NFL Draft

Tempe, Arizona—The Arizona Cardinals, owning the third
overall selection and four of the top 100, await the
2004 NFL Draft scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, April
24–25.

The NFL Draft begins at 9 a.m. (MST) Saturday and
continues until the completion of the first three
rounds, then resumes at 8 a.m. (MST) on Sunday until
its conclusion.

The Cardinals' media draft headquarters will be located
in the media workroom at the team’s training facility
in south Tempe. Arizona Cardinals Vice President of
Football Operations Rod Graves, first-year Head Coach
Dennis Green, assistant coaches, and appropriate staff
members will be available for media interviews
following the Cards’ early-round selections and again
at other times throughout the two-day draft.

After the first round, Arizona owns the first choice in
rounds two (33rd overall), three (64th overall), and
seven (202nd overall), the second in round six (167th
overall), the third in round five (135th overall), and
the fourth in round four (100th overall).

“We’ve got all the data we need, and we feel like we’re
in great position,” offers Graves. “We’re going to
spend some time this weekend to line up the top 150
players in the draft. We feel we’re in a great spot
with the number three pick and that’s where our focus
is right now.”

Draft Party

The Miller Lite/Cardinals Draft Party,
presented by Coke, KDUS and KSLX, will take place on
Saturday, April 24 at Jackson’s on 3rd in Phoenix from
8:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to
meet Cardinal players and cheerleaders, and watch the
first day of the draft with live ESPN coverage. Raffle
prizes throughout the day will include Cardinal-related
merchandise. Food and beverage will be available.
Admission is free.

Mini-Camp/Fan Fest

Green will conduct a three-day
mini-camp of returning veterans and this year's
draftees and free agents on Friday–Sunday, April 30–May
2 at the team's training facility.

The Saturday afternoon workout will be the center of
attraction during “Fan Fest” at the team’s training
facility. Beginning at 2:00 p.m., the festivities
include a Gatorade Junior Training Camp, interactive
games, appearances by Cardinals Cheerleaders and mascot
Big Red, and the opportunity to watch the team’s
afternoon practice from 3:15–5:00 p.m., followed by an
autograph session for children.

Admission and parking for the Fan Fest are free.

When:
Saturday, April 24, beginning at 9 a.m.
(MST). The first three rounds will be completed on
Saturday by approximately 7 p.m. (MST). The draft
resumes at 8 a.m. (MST) Sunday, April 25 for the final
four rounds.

How:
Each of the 32 NFL teams has 15 minutes to make
its selection in the first round, 10 minutes in the
second round, and five minutes per round thereafter.
The seven rounds will consist of a total of 255
players, including 32 compensatory picks. In 2003, the
first round consumed four hours and 58 minutes, the
second two hours and 16 minutes, the third one hour and
30 minutes.

Media Services:

• Live draft coverage by ESPN from 9
a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday until its conclusion.
The broadcast will be shown on television at the
Cardinals’ media headquarters in the media workroom.

•Interviews with Vice President of Football Operations
Rod Graves, Head Coach Dennis Green, and appropriate
staff members, along with conference telephone
interviews with the Cardinals’ draft choices.

• Ample telephone lines will be available both days to the
media.

• Complimentary continental breakfast, buffet
lunch, and beverages will be provided.
