A couple of things don't make sense here.

Davey was available for the last 3 weeks. The front office can only be thinking he is 4th string( now 3rd).

Warner , I fear, is hurt much worse than we think. If Davey starts in any game this year it will be apparent that we have no clue as to what we are doing because,
A. If you thought Davey was a worthy starter , why in the hell would we have waited till now to sign him and,
B. If he starts ahead of McCown at anytime(except for injury) then what in the hell did we hold on to McCown (or Navarre) if we didn't REALLY believe they could lead this team?

Slanidrac:

Maybe the offensive coaches looked at each other while reviewing game film of McCown's performance during the second half in Seattle and one of them said, "What the hell were we thinking? We gotta get us a quarterback."

1) If I read the article right, there were a couple of teams looking at signing Davey. The Cards appear to be pro-active for once. Since we rarely see this behavior displayed, it is understandable that we would be confused.

2) Maybe this signing will light a fire under McCown (and/or Navarre). Maybe he will show up and be the player that many of thought he would be back in '02 and this will be a good signing.

3) Green seems to have a penchant for signing players that have sat out of football for some time (Berry, Towns & Ross). His theory is it makes them hungry.

And in the long run, if he doesn't work out, what have we really lost?

It's called flailing which is often accompanied by failing.

It's what happens when you have to draft your favorite longtime buds son as a WR, as good as he may end up being, when you obviously need a QB.

Part of the rift people talk about when they talk about Green and Graves grating on each other started way back when Green decided he had to have Fitzgerald.

Now I am not going to rehash if Fitzgerald was a solid pick, he was and is going to be great for us.

The problem is we already had a good hands but somewhat slow WR on the team and no one to throw the ball to him or Fitz for that matter.

It'd be nice to have Big Ben or at least Roy Williams to stretch the field but that's my point about disliking Green's way of doing things.

He shoots from the hip.

This signing in itself is fine, good idea, but don't tell me this is going to solve our QB problem, it won't.

I just don't get it...

With all the talk of the QB's ability (or lack thereof), the Cardinals could have
a quarterback made up of Aikman, Marino, Big Ben, Elway, Manning (x2) all combined and he would still SUCK!!!!
Until the Cardinals get their offensive (emphasis on the second syllable) line playing well, it doesn't matter who are QB is, much less our WR's, TE, or RB's are...
Is it poor coaching or poor players?
After watching the Bronco's defense slaughter KC last night with a bunch of "discarded garbage" from Cleveland - I have to say it's poor coaching.

On that note, everyone who ripped me when I said we should try to get Trevor Pryce when Denver was reportedly shopping him, what do you think now?

Pryce was unreal last night he beat a triple team on one play and nearly got a sack. Officially he had 4 tackles and no sacks but if you saw he was in the backfield on every play and KC couldn't stop him and block the rest of the DL.

But I doubt they were ever really going to trade him I think they were just seeing what his value was.

Ok I can buy this guy upgrades our QB depth but to stretch him into another Brady like starter is just that, a stretch.

He's probably better than Josh or John but geez if he was that good someone would have traded for him or picked him up or something before us.

Tom Brady has shot peoples expectations of low round QB's for about a generation.

Guys like him come around about once that often and it's going to take a while for everyone to believe that.

Kurt Warner was the ultimate system QB, I think two teams have just about proven that.

Outside the Rams system, he's average at best.

I wonder if the Cardinals offered him a shot at possibly starting this year. There's got to be a reason why he chose an NFL outpost headed to a Top 5 pick with no offensive line over his college coach's 2-1 team.

Maybe he has been reading this board and he realized that this team has the most informed, passionate and literate fans of any of the 32 NFL teams. Maybe he saw a spark, a small spark to be sure, but a spark none the less, that could grow and grow into a bonfire of talent that sweeps the Cardinals into the first of many Super Bowls. Maybe he thinks he can be the one, the savior who shepherds this band of lost football souls to the promised land.

Or maybe we are paying him more.

A good amount of times the 3 QB is a developmental player, not starter material.

Next year San Diego is going to have to make a decision on Rivers. He is not going to sit on the bench another year at his pay scale. If they keep Rivers there is a good NLF proven QB available. I would be happy with either of these guys. We need to take a look at this situation as the year progresses and see where we will be drafting. If anyone is worse than us let us hope they have a QB or want Bush. we really need to solve our QB problem once and for all. This has been going on for way to many years.
