I like Shipp and I think he and Arrington should get more carries. I think Edge will do better, but so far those other two seem to have had more success running behind this gawd awful line. The offense is looking very good, defense pretty weak. Although I'm starting to feel better about the secondary.

I never said he stinks, I said he is vastly over rated by AZ fans.

Shipp has to average about 3.2 yards per carry for fans to anoint him the starter, James has to average about 4.5. It's all expectations, Shipp has low expectation so anything above suck he should the starter.

I heard the same crap with Martay Jenkins for years here.

Shipp is fine for spot duty, but he has never proven to be durable ennough nor has he been consistent enough to be a starter in the NFL. Outside of Cardinal fans, (who you must admit tend to hate on guys with high expectations and love the underdog) no one would take Shipp over James, and especially after a preseason game.

Offense:

1. Good half by Leinart and Warner...good pass protection by the line. Levi looks solid (save the one false start).

2. Edge is weak...has Fred Flintstone feet even when there's a big hole. Marcel runs tougher.

3. Terrelle Smith missed his block on 4th down...as bad was that Al Johnson allowed the NT to close the hole down.

4. Fitz was awesome...as was the flea flicker, although the timing of the play was off...Fitz should have delayed and then turned on the jets...there's no way even a starting QB could stop and lead Fitz when he's 60 yards down field.

5. Props to Ahmad Merritt...he's making a strong surge for a roster spot. Where's LeRon McCoy?

6. Arrington blew up a middle blitzer on one of Warner's nice passes to Merritt.

7. Warner has good chemistry with BJ.

Defense (or lack thereof)

1. Clancy Pendergast is NFL (not for long)...ever since he's been DC, his players don't contain (allowing easy misdirection plays) and they don't cover...it's embarrassing. If you can't contain or cover, you can't win NFL football games on a regular basis.

Pendergast can get creative to stop the run...and he can create a pass rush through blitzes...but without shaping up the other areas, this team has no shot of being a winner.

2. No pass rush today...missing Chike, and Berry looks like the extra work he's done for Levi has given him heavy legs...and the interior guys are not hungry enough...save Cooper, who should be in there more regularly.

3. Antrel Rolle is NFL (not for long)...this just can't keep happening game after game...and stop making excuses for him. Yes, we all want him to play well so badly, we want to make excuses for him...but the rules clearly state the CB cannot make any contact with the WR after the 5 yard zone...which includes boxing a WR out on the sideline.

4. Pace and Blackstock are pretenders not contenders.

5. Green and Hood are by far the two best cover men.

6. Where's Dansby? Sorry people. I keep telling you...all this romance about him being made to order at WLB...???

If Pendergast can't get his arms around the defense than he needs to be replaced. I would think Whiz would have no problem doing that since keeping him would reflect on him.
