#40 Never Forget
I like this matchup for the Cards. The Browns are rated 31st in points...but ofcourse the Cards are 32nd so this won't be a shootout. The Cards do get more yardage, and Shipp ought to be able to get over a 100 yards this week...that is if the score is close. Green does come back from a 1 game suspension and will have fresh legs but the Cards should be able to slow the Browns running game down and force them to pass...which is bad for us if we can't get pressure on Holcomb.
The Cards are 0-4 on the road but the Browns are 1-3 at home so something has got to give. Unlike the Steelers game I think the Cards will see 8-9 men in the box to try to slow Shipp down. They will blitz Blake and hope he turns in on of his horrendous road performances.
The O-line must protect Blake and make him settle down in the pocket. Blake must settle down and not be too quick to run out of the pocket. I noticed several times last week that Shelton and Clemment seemed to be blocking thier men out of the pocket but right into Blake...as if they anticipated Blake staying in the pocket.
Blake also need to to run early to keep that threat going. Move Quan around and use the screen to burn some of those blitzes. Freddie Jones is the guy to look for in the redzone.
The kicking game is a big mystery and weather could be a factor. If Shipp gets 30+ carries we win this game. Both Offenses don't score much so look for a snorer. With all the distractions in Cleaveland (KJ, Green) and with all of the fan unrest...I think Davis may have lost this team. I think the Cards should win this game by 7.
If they lay an egg on this one I can't see them winning a road game all year. This team just seems to shoot itself in the foot time and time again on the road. They cannot play scared and play not to lose. They must come out and challenge this struggling Browns team. Hit'em in the nose early. Get a lead. Then pound the ball.
Don't forget, this is a team that absolutely destroyed the Steelers at home when they capitolized on turnovers. That said I will give the Cards the benefit of the doubt because I can't bear to think of them going o-fer on the road this year. Obviously being 6.5 point dawgs means that the experts that be expect a typical road performance by the Cards...
21-14 Cards
