We NEED you guys to help us get going on the Cardinals Wiki site.

If you want to help out, go sign up on the Wiki site and start doing things. You can see the Suns page, the history by year, the player pages, etc, to get an idea.

This project depends on help from all our readers...so please help us out!

Mike

I have enough knowledge to be dangerous, but I'm looking forward to the people who really know the history to flesh out the sections.

I was tempted to add "university oh phoenix stadium" to the stadiums but didnt have time to write more than that so figure ill leave it alone ; )

Wikipedia already has the cards pretty well covered.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arizona_Cardinals

I thought the same thing when I first opened it. Can we pre-populated it with what's in Wikipedia? Seems silly to recreate what's already there.

I don't know how that works, but dang, that is a great Cards page on Wikipedia...

We should select our own all-time greatest team and post that as well.

Agreed it's silly to recreate. I think the best choices are simply to link to the wikipedia article or get a license. More information about wikipedia licenses at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Mirrors_and_forks

Probably the best way to give back to the Cards is to add to the 2007 article on Wikipedia. Here's the 2006 article as a template:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Arizona_Cardinals_season

As you can see the 2007 article is missing a lot of off season activity:

The point is to not use regurgitated info from other Wiki's, but to do one with our Fan perspective...make it unique.

But it's a dead project anyways...no one wants to help.

I wanted to help but Wiki's information is already very deep, no use going through all the work when most of it is done.

Again, missing the point...but it's fine.

Not that big a deal, it was a good idea that didn't really make it.

If you don't mind me asking, what exactly is the point?

In order to create a new wiki, you need to have a goal, otherwise, it is superfluous in the face of a fairly detailed wikipedia article.

One example of a good wiki with a goal is the Star Wars wiki (aka Wookieepedia). The goal is present tons of information about the Star Wars universe in great detail.

Take Luke Skywalker for example. His wikipedia article is fairly detailed and is 9 pages if printed out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luke_Skywalker

The Wookieepedia article is much more detailed and goes into great detail in areas the wikipedia article ignores, and is 40 pages long: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Luke_skywalker

So if we had an idea of what the goal of a Cardinals wiki is, maybe more of us would contribute.

Call me crazy but isnt the whole idea and priciple behind it to get as much information about one thing as you can in this case the "thing" being the Cardinals? Why would this be any different?

I thought I stated I just wanted all the information about the Cardinals as we can, and from a fan's perspective.

I would have thought so many of you would love to have put up bio's of McGinnis, or Gene Stallings, or Buddy Ryan and give fan's perspectives of what they were like, not just boring crap you can find on Wiki.

Part of a Wiki is making it your own, and YOU GUYS can do what you want with it...

Wikipedia has the limitation of intending to be entirely fact based. I'm not saying that a local wiki should not be factual, but Wikipedia types argue constantly over whether or not a page resembles a fan page, so a local wiki would provide more freedom.

It also could serve as a better organized version of a forum in that entries would not be ordered by publish date but by subject. An FAQ+ perhaps. Imagine a wiki entry that told you that University of Phoenix Stadium has a food stand at Section x that sells Product Y for Price Z (as of a stated date). Or perhaps it could document the draft party reaction when Levi's name was called. Or maybe it could document that Saturday when about 60 of us collected in a Mesa park to listen to Micheal Bidwill enlist our help in getting Mesa voters to approve a new stadium.

If everyone added a single thought per day, maybe just a recollection from a single game, it could be amazingly good.

Because there's no point in creating a new wiki when you can just add to the wikipedia page on the Cardinals. Unless the new wiki attacks it from a different angle.
