Recent trade rumors have surfaced as both Golden State and Phoenix have contacted Washington expressing interest in Caron Butler.

This is from RotoWorld. Has this got any legs? What would the Suns be giving up to get Caron? Off season rumors had Amare going to Washington for Caron and the #5 pick. This time??

I dont really see why the Suns would trade for him at this point. Trading Amare for him would be ******** it would leave the Suns with no inside play at all.

The Suns could try to move JRich for him but the Wiz don't need a 2 guard. I dont see a lot of realistic Butler to Phx scenarios.

I love the fact that now Caron Butler and Anthony Randolph are reportedly on the market. These teams are kicking themselves for not pulling the trigger on their respective Amare deals. Suns do not need either, we need to look for a guy like Camby whom the Clippers seem to be shopping.

....to replace who? Not Amare, not Frye as well as he's playing and spacing the floor.

The Suns team we have now is probably the team we'll have this season unless some crazy Gasol like deal falls into Kerrs lap (unlikely).

Just for sake of argument:

Camby Center
Amare PF
Frye SF
Hill 2G
Nash PG

Seems pretty good to me!

Yes that would be a nice big team, the only problem is that Channing probably lacks footwork to stay with smaller forwards and Nash is not a good PG to have with such a team.

It could only be J-Rich. Why would we trade Amare when he is just getting back to be dominant.
We'd have to get Anthony Randolph their 2010 pick and Butler and I still would have a bad feeling about it.

Absolutely to replace Frye.....or at least split time with him to give our around-the-rim defense some teeth and improve our rebounding. He can stick the mid-range jumper fairly well too.....Camby isn't Shaq.
Spacing the floor with skinny big men who only shoot 3's but can't do much else are overrated in this town.

I agree though that this current team is probably what we're gonna get.

Amare to Washington, Butler to Golden State, Biedrins and Randolph to Phoenix as the framework to a deal, with a few sweeteners from Washington to Phoenix?

If they wouldn't trade Randolph for Amare why would they trade him for Butler?

Things have changed in the last 3 months, Nellie hs said he will re-evaluate the whole roster and rumors are going around that Randolph isn't untouchable anymore, besides both Butler and Amare are better than Randolph. The guy hasn't become the superstar people have been saying he'll become. I say we keep Amare unless we can get a guy like David Lee or Chris Bosh who can replace his offensive skills and provide some rebounding.

Sell high. The Suns are better off trading Stoudemire now than at any time in at least the last year and a half.

That said, I can't see why the Suns would have any interest at all in Butler. I'll add Rotoworld to my list of "internet rumor sources I can safely ignore."

While great for Phoenix and Washington, I don't see GS trading their starting power forward and center for a small forward. Washington would have to include one of their young bigs like Blatche or Mcgee for sure, or we would have to exchange Beidrins for Maggette for the trade to work IMO. I love the Randolph premise though.

To be honest.. Randolph scores 11 PPG on less than 42% shooting... That comparred to Amare at nealy 20 PPG at over 56% shooting..

I am all about trading Stat for fair compesation, but I would want their unprotected 1st round pick along with Curry and Bedrins, they can keep Randolph...

I like Butler, and if we could trade Richardson/Ameduson for Butler I would do, I would NOT trade Barbs AND Richardson...

In the End, unless we are blown away, I would not like to see us make a drastic move, and IMO, trading Amare would be drastic

Thats not a very good argument.

No way can Frye play the 3 and Hill at the 2 for extended minutes would be bad news.

As hard as it may be to think of trading Amare while the Suns are playing some decent basketball, they risk losing him for nothing in as a FA. I agree the time may be now to start seeking a deal. If they are going to deal him, I hope that Kerr will try and accomplish two things: keep them competitive this year and get some young talent to brighten the future.

Terrible terrible lineup. Having Frye at the 3 and Grant at the 2 hurts more then it helps. Not to mention that one of the reasons Frye is open so much from the 3 is because an opposing big man is covering him. If he gets guarded on a regular basis by a much faster athletic 3, Frye won't get his shots. He really doesn't have a post game. Also, Grant will get torched on a regular basis playing 2 guards.

No thanks.

I like our team the way it is. I don't see how Butler can help other than slight increase in depth.

I'd rather have Camby in the line-up than Frye, personally..For the defense and rebounding, and as mentioned, he can shoot as well. I think it would improve our chances slightly in the playofs. Of course it depends on what we'd have to give up. I also like Butler, but definitely not for Amare. He's finally playing like his normal self again, so I'd like to keep this team together for the most part.

who suggested it once? JRich for Camby and Rasual Butler? It might be worth looking at when both LB and Griffins get back on court.

Done. Where do I sign?
Butler 1 year @ $3.9
Camby 1 year @ $9.1
for
JRich 2 years @ $13.3

Camby wont space the floor as well as Frye (duh!), but this trade wont be doing team chemistry any favours. The team is Top 5 (at the moment) in the West, and to pull a trade like this wont really help. But thats just my opinion. On paper, its a pretty good trade

No way we trade Amare right now. We should be talking and trying to get an extension done for like 5 years/80M$.

Might be unlikely he would agree now that Gasol probably gets a 3yrs/67M$ extension..

It seems he is finally back in shape or used to wearing the goggles. He is averaging 21/11 this month and it is probably getting better. Even for the season he is back to 20/8,5 already.
