Elite or not elite won't matter. Palmer is good enough to get us to the playoffs this year. He's got the mental and physical toughness to do it.

I don't get all the injury talk: other than Cinci with a severe injury and this year, when has he missed a lot of time? He had reconstructive surgery and then this year right?

You're making a deal about nothing: he's played in every game 8 out of 11 seasons.

That is iron-man type stuff. Let's not act like he's made of glass. Even one of those 8 out of 11 he played 10 games. That's almost 9 seasons out of 11 for all 16 games.

Ya'll are reaching to find something wrong. But injuries aren't where to look.

I hate it when people bet against our players. It's easy to say they'll suck. Palmer is a great player, on bad teams. Now he's on a good team. Now he can fulfill his Heisman Trophy top pick legacy. He'll take us to the playoffs and further. Just watch. That fire never died inside him. Watch.

Just to put it in perspective since week 9 of last year (not counting playoffs, sorted by passer rating):

Peyton Manning
: 13 games, 4088 yards, 65.76% completions, 41 TDs, 7 INTs, 7.91 YPA, 110.6 passer rating.
Philip Rivers: 14 games, 3761 yards, 67.63% completions, 30 TDs, 6 INTs, 8.40 YPA, 110.2 passer rating.
Aaron Rodgers: 7 games, 1737 yards, 64.47% completions, 17 TDs, 3 INTs, 7.62 YPA, 106.9 passer rating.
Nick Foles: 14 games, 3897 yards, 62.93% completions, 31 TDs, 9 INTs, 8.40 YPA, 103.7 passer rating.
Russell Wilson: 13 games, 2707 yards, 65.69% completions, 21 TDs, 7 INTs, 7.94 YPA, 101.9 passer rating.
Drew Brees: 13 games, 4064 yards, 70.15% completions, 27 TDs, 11 INTs, 7.44 YPA, 99.6 passer rating.
Tom Brady: 14 games, 3963 yards, 64.15% completions, 26 TDs, 7 INTs, 7.48 YPA, 97.5 passer rating.
Carson Palmer: 10 games, 2915 yards, 65.04% completions, 18 TDs, 8 INTs, 7.90 YPA, 96.4 passer rating.
Colin Kaepernick: 14 games, 3069 yards, 61.63% completions, 22 TDs, 7 INTs, 96.0 passer rating.
Alex Smith: 14 games, 2567 yards, 62.89% completions, 22 TDs, 7 INTs, 6.76 YPA, 94.3 passer rating.
Andrew Luck: 14 games, 3964 yards, 63.78% completions, 27 TDs, 13 INTs, 7.00 YPA, 90.7 passer rating.
Matt Ryan: 14 games, 3923 yards, 65.64% completions, 23 TDs, 14 INTs, 7.09 YPA, 89.7 passer rating.
Cam Newton: 13 games, 2845 yards, 60.15% completions, 18 TDs, 8 INTs, 6.96 YPA, 87.7 passer rating.

These particular stats probably underrate the value and performance of Newton, Luck, Kaepernick, and Wilson in particular because they add value with their feet.

bottom line for me... after the dreck we've had to watch the overwhelming majority of the last 26 years, I'm pretty happy with Palmer's play since the second half of last season. He's a solid QB who can be a playoff QB until we find our franchise guy.

I absolutely agree with this. I have my doubts that Palmer can sustain this pace, stay healthy, or deliver a championship, but I have no doubt that Carson Palmer has more than enough ability to quarterback a playoff team and not take much off the table.

Ya I have just enough confidence in CP in a playoff game as I would in say Alex Smith, Ryan, Foles or Dalton.

Maybe others.

So, like I said, he's been amongst the best. Yet was called a troll for saying it.

If you go back to Game 9 last year, not great:

14 games, 3341 yards, 60.69% completions, 6.38 YPA, 21 TDs, 16 INTs, 79.9 passer rating.

Flacco threw too many INTs last year, particularly when he was lacking passing options.

In 2014 alone, Flacco's been pretty spectacular--6 games, 1596 yards, 63.64% completions, 7.25 YPA, 12 TDs, 3 INTs, 97.8 QB rating. Went from throwing around 2 INTs per game in the second half of last season to throwing one every other game so far.
