Most likely yes, and I think he will play a tad better. But if we somehow end up with a lead, game management could do the trick. Especially if the Krapper starts turning it over at an alarming rate again.... which I hope.
For that to happen we will need to get pressure on him which we have not been able to do much of in the first 2 games.

Can we really expect Abraham and Butler to be able to apply any type of pressure this game?

I believe that if we can get to him before he gets comfortable back there and hit him a couple of times that will knock him off his rhythm.

Agree.

Oline will dictate what we can do on offense. If we can establish the running game and give Stanton some time to go through his reads he might get comfortable back there and get his throws down.

It's all contingent on the run game... If we can somehow muster some measure of threat via the run, Stanton just might have a chance at success...
I really don't see Kap turning the ball over 4 times against us. We will need to find a way to eat up clock and keep the ball out of Kap's hands as much as possible.

I'm hoping with another week under his belt that Stanton will remember it's okay to look at more than one target.

That other Cardinal "backup" that has been referred to had already won a Super Bowl and had been az's starter in '05. So it's not like he was a career backup who hadn't played in several years.

But hey, if Double Dunce could beat the 9ers so can Stanton.

:D

Alex Smith played and had no viable receiving options outside of Crabtree and Davis, and Davis only had a single reception all game. We aren't going to win this with Stanton's sub - .500 completion percentage of last week.

An optimist might point out we have a better chance of being 4 - 0 than we do of being 0 - 4. Plus, as a Cards fan, there might not be any Super Bowl victories but when we die, on our deathbeds, we will receive total consciousness. So we got that going for us, which is nice.

Shoud we be trying to find another QB. There is talk of RG111 bein replaced? He would cost abundle of draft picks and then some. What if our present QB goes down? Who is up next?

You mean the same Crabtree and Davis that kill us every year? The Alex Smith who threw 23 TDs with only 7 picks last season?

We had a bad azz defense that year just like we do now and Skelton threw for over 280 and 3 TDs despite his abysmal career completion %.

It's our only win over SF in 10 tries. So don't be making like it was nothing. :D

That is exactly what I was thinking as well. We have pulled out many a game that we were supposed to lose.

Watching Atlanta tear up the McCown led Bucs and was just thinking about that Vikings game in 2003. Green Bay gave Nate Poole a key to the city.

Who has Stanton been a back up for in his full career? Has it been star QBs? Seems like he never got a chance to show how he can do. We will see if he can handle starting 2 games in a row and against a decent team.

Arians loved him in Indy and was good with him being the starter until Palmer became available. Not sure how accurate that second part actually was though.

I guess we will see how it goes in a few days. Need to almost play perfect, if not perfect. If this game was in SF, we would be toast. Being at home hopefully helps....

Yeah Stanton hadn'd seen game time in a bazillion years, them stats would be a reason for more concern if there was some turnovers on it. I don't really care how many yards he gets, or the completion %, just protect the ball and get better each game. O-line will be huge again this week.

But you go from not having played forever and facing a terrible defense to only having played once in forever and playing a really good defense. That's a pretty tough uptick.
