Funny that some of the people ripping on DRC in the other thread want Cromartie. Guess who the Jets are bringing in to talk to about replacing Cromartie, DRC.

They are actually quite similar players, neither one plays the run. There was a famous video from a few years back of Cromartie turning and ducking away from a RB, ironically a jet RB and they wound up signing him anyways.

He is older and hasn't recently suggested he might retire but otherwise IMO DRC is better, had a better year last year that's for sure.

DRC will cost a lot more.

Reports are DRC turned down 56 million from denver??

No way were paying that especially for such a lackadaisical player….. Both have there warts but the price die kick the tires on Cromartie as a 3rd CB possibly a 2nd.

If we signed him, we would double the fan base from his children alone.

I would sign him if were not giving him more than an arm & Lieutenant Dan's legs. :D

This would be a very good signing IMO, then all our secondary needs is Calvin Pryor. Woohoo

He certainly is better than Powers.

My guess is that if he is signed, he's the nickel corner with Powers moving inside in that package.

The real question is why did the Jets release him and is he really a player in serious decline. Buyer beware!!

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...o-cromartie-believes-ny-jets-will-release-him

Cromartie was ranked 103rd out of 110 corners by Pro Football Focus, a site that grades all snaps for every NFL player. Cromartie was ranked 16th using the same metrics in 2012. He said last month that he might need surgery to fix knee and hip injuries that hindered his play.
"I was banged up," he said. "I got hurt in Week 2, but that's not an excuse. If I'm going to go out and go play every single week, I expect for myself to be playing at a high level and my teammates and my organization expects for me to be playing at a high level, so I never make excuses.
"I just had a bad year. And that falls heavily on me and no one else."

That's what QB's do to number #2's.

Sorry don't mean to argue with you. I'm season ticket holder and a group of us just got disgusted with how bad Powers played every week. It seemed like every completion was to the guy he was guarding, I know that is extreme but IMO that is the biggest area of need. That is why I'm practically screaming that anybody would be an upgrade. I know that is unfair.:)

Some of you guys are crazy - if signed to a reasonable rate, he'd be an absolute steal.

PFF's evaluation -

Antonio Cromartie, Cornerback - How much of 2013 was down to an injured hip that he tried to play through? Otherwise the dropoff in Cromartie was steep as he was arguably one of the top three cornerbacks in the league based on his 2012 tape. Get back to that form and he’s as talented as it gets at the spot.

Don't care about the ratings. Powers was horrible. Opposing qbs went after him.

Powers was good enough for the Cardinals to have a top 5 defense last year.

Cromartie has lost a step and isn't worth much more than League Minimum IMO. I'm OK if the Cards sign him for cheap and let him try to earn a spot on the roster.

Agreed! One year minimum deal only. He's 6'2" so that is probably the attraction for the Cardinals.

A good idea to bring him in. I think he is only 29. If he is healthy a welcome number 2.

GBR
40

He'll be 30 next month and has been dealing with a hip issue that has plagued him since he dislocated it when he played for the Chargers. It got worse last year and as he gets older it won't get any better.

Powers was not terrible, he was a average #2 corner who had a majority of passes thrown his way because Peterson is a stud. I think people forget how bad our #2 corners have been in the past, Powers seems like an all pro compared to them lol
