Suns are my Kryptonite!
Has Bol Bol been the only one to score with this mop up unit?
Defense.Celtics made 22 threes. 42.3% as a team. That's hard to beat.
He was getting NO help from anyone, especially when KD was off the floor. I don't blame Book at all for this one. With Dunn, Grayson, Royce and Cody Martin all building a brick house, I don't blame Book for having to try to take on the scoring load himself. My biggest issue is really Bud not adjusting quick enough. Grayson, especially, should have had his minutes cut in half.Didn't get to see this live (watched on delay). This was just one of those games or bad habits returned. Book had 10 assists but shot 4/13 (30%)? Last 3 games he has shot 18/48 (37%) and 2/15 from 3. He at least has a sick 32 assists during that stretch but that shooting?! YIKES!
That's beyond ugly shooting for your #2. Book needs to get back on track shooting. You can't expect to beat a great teams like the Celtics unless your top guys are firing on all cylinders. Hopefully, this is not another continuing bad shooting stretch for Book and he gets back on track tomorrow and this was just a buzz saw of a game.
Book has had some serious shooting slumps this season. Such a weird season for him. I agree though, if you can't defend the 3 in today's NBA you are going to get torched. He was getting NO help from anyone, especially when KD was off the floor. I don't blame Book at all for this one. Then again, if you can't guard the perimeter against a really good 3-point shooting team, it won't matter.
That's good to hear what Eddie said as I watched the ESPN broadcast. Makes a lot of sense. I agree that the Suns were not well coached on how to cover the Celtics three point shooting.Eddie Johnson kept saying the Celtics make the easy pass to set up shots, usually to the closest player, whereas the Suns make the longer pass trying to bypass a step in the process.
The Suns offense could learn something from this. Those long passes can get you in trouble. The Celtics gave a clinic on how to pass the ball and find the open shooter.
However, the Suns defense was the primary problem or lack thereof. Maybe they were demoralized by the Celtics raining threes. I don't know, but there is no excuse. There is a difference between a well coached team and one that is trying to find their way late in the season.
