Awesome finish. Not crazy about the Texas QB.
he got outplayed by penix, but Ewers made some plays to make it exciting late. I thought the two fumbles by the Texas RB's were the difference in the game. and Texas got lucky that a clock loophole helped them at the end. I would have rather seen Texas do something different though on the final few plays.

he used the WR's head though to make the play. should have been PI.

Against most defensive backs that is a Texas touchdown.

That pass was perfect and would have been a touchdown in the NFL.

it was a good pass. I thought it was a good play by the DB, but looking at the replay the DB used his left hand to headlock Mitchell for leverage to make the play. to me that is PI and should have been called.

Nah it was a lazy fade pass. With any kind of zip it’s an easy TD. Ewers is talented but has little feel for the position. The 2nd down throw was uncatchable.

the first and 2nd down plays were shyte. he can scramble and break the defense down. that's what I would have done, but they opted for 2 wasted plays instead.

Here is a replay. I don't think a referee is going to call pass interference on a bang, bang play like that.

You are right about the left hand.

he couldn't have made the play on the ball without using other hand and Mitchell probably catches it otherwise. that is why PI should be reviewable.

I can understand why you would feel that way. There would be a lot of plays reversed, following the letter of the rule.

Yeah, you gotta zip that ball in there.

However, Ewers was fortunate to be able to arc the ball over the two Washington pass rushers.

yeah, at the end of the day Texas could have won, but did not deserve to win based on how the game played out. Texas had too many turnovers and penalties and Penix outplayed Ewers by a lot.

They said he is probably coming back. Do you think he can hold Manning off?

I think both teams were worthy of winning.

no, it is already hurting Ewers in my opinion and that is not healthy for the program. there is too much hype for manning and they need to give him the keys just like they gave Vince young the keys back in the day.

I guess the question for me is whether or not Ewers wants to go back and compete with manning. the Texas fans already want manning to be the starter. I go back to the the buzz that was in the stadium in the Texas tech game in Austin. When manning came on the field there was a roar in that stadium that I have never heard before. the only comparison I have is when Vince young made his debut against OU, but that was in the cotton bowl, not a home game. Ewers cannot compete with Archie. Ewers really needed to show out tonight and he did not.

Ewers has tremendous upside, only being a sophomore.

he really does and I like Ewers. Ewers is not to blame for tonight's loss. the Texas defense was not great, but that had more to do with Penix being great IMO. I think the two turnovers killed Texas, especially because they had an advantage with their running backs and yet they fumbled twice in that fashion. I think the hype of manning is not good for Ewers. If sark is able to manage it, it could work for another season. but I don't know that it can work beyond that.

Will be 24 & has two previous torn ACLs
Yeah but he used that age developing. He constantly throws guys open and dumps 40 yard lasers into tiny windows that most college QBs don't consider open. I think he will be the guy that GMs regret passing on.

As for the previous ACLs, it seems like they've healed. He's not a scrambler, but he definitely isn't a statue.

there were 5-10 throws that he made tonight that some NFL QB's can't make. the giants have QB's that can't even hit a wide open WR. I would be shocked if Washington doesn't beat Michigan by a fair amount. penix was amazing tonight and he is the reason that Washington beat Texas. and I also credit the huskies WR's and TE's because they caught everything that hit their hands.

Michigan's pass rush could throw off Penix's timing and Washington's run defense is suspect. It will be a tough match for both teams.

you bring up a good point. I don’t thing Texas maxed out their run ability.

Sorry Jon but the whole plays on the west coast excuse is just silly in this day and age. All the scouts have seen him as have all the scouting services.

I don’t know why he isn’t projected higher (though he will be) but the fact he plays in Seattle has nothing to do with it
Well, I have to disagree on that. There’s many people that have been doubting Washington in predicted, they would get blown out and that’s basically based on the fact that they never saw Washington play much.

And don’t forget the people that are hyping and doing these mock drafts aren’t the NFL scouts

And yes, we know that teams on the West Coast unless they’re in LA team get overshadowed and overlooked all the time in every single sport
