Alright ladies and gentlemen.

This thread should bring up some good converstaion.

Let's say, and it seems to be a lock to happen, that Levi Brown is let go, and signs elsewhere. So, to be clear he is off the table.

Who is your LT for the Cardinals next year ?

Sidenotes:
1. I am interested in the answer of both the fans that want to keep Levi Brown, and those who are fine letting him go.
2. This is a very good debate we are having on this board. The more I read about this situation, the more I see that the general press/media is as divided on Brown's value as we are.

In most cases I am fine with letting him go when I believe there are btter options available, but what I see in FA doesnt lead me to believe its a good idea...at the right price...

CARDS SHOULD HAVE MOVED HIM TO LG and reworked his deal last season. Instead, he will go he way of LD.

I don't know how healthy Marcus McNeil is but he might be cut by the Chargers if they re-sign Gaither. He's pretty good when healthy but it's a huge risk.

On the roster, the only guy with LT experience is Colledge. My pick would be Bell from Buffalo in the hope that we get lucky again.

Bell from Buffalo or Gaither. In a worst-case scenario, take a chance on McNeil. In a worst worst-case scenario, a draft pick, but if we make LT a priority in FA and spend money, as we have shown we are willing to do when we really want someone, I think we can secure one of them.

Of course, if more/other players become available, this could change.

Consider that two out of your three options will be available to test the open market because of major durability concerns. It's not an upgrade if the player you bring in can't play the entire season.

My top three to consider

Jared Gaither
Anthony Collins
Jeff Backus

Injury prone options

Demetrius Bell
Marcus McNeil
Chad Clifton

This thought has been on my mind for a little while. Any chance of moving Colledge to RT? I wouldnlt think he could handle starting at LT, but he played LT for Boise, so perhaps he could handle the right side. I remember him filling at LT during the playoff game against GB when Clifton got hurt. It would be easier to find a guard than a tackle.

No idea whether he could fill the role on the right side.

Whom would you have signed to play LT in this scenario?

There's no evidence that Levi Brown would be a great or even good LG. He's too big to pull, which is the primary responsibility that we ask our LGs to perform.

Yes, behind two pretty decent OTs in Cincy. Is he ideal? No, but he has shown some ability, he can play RT if he doesn't fit at LT, and would be a lower cost option. You might be able to sign Collins and Clifton for what Levi Brown would command on the open market.

I think many on this board forget what an athletic freak Leonard Davis was coming out of college. Levi Brown has nowhere near the athleticism of Leonard Davis.

I don't know why, but I see Jeff Backus in our future at LT, and Bridges battling a rookie for the RT spot, probably Cordy Glenn.

anybody is better than Levi. But of the guys available to us in FA and that will be in the draft, I'd take Gaither, Bell, or Martin in a heartbeat over Levi

Really...

Then the Cards should head down to the closest carwash and save millions.

(5 days ago, CBS Sports)

by John Kreger, CBSSports.com

Contract talks between the Lions and free agent LT Jeff Backus are progressing well, increasing speculation that the Lions will sign the veteran to a new deal before free agency begins. "We met (with Lions officials) at the combine and had a positive discussion," Backus' agent, Pat Dye, told the Free Press. "We'll probably be reconvening in the near future, and we'll see where it goes."

might as well. When Levi is the worst in the league, the worst we can do is the same

We'll see what the "worst in the league" receives on the open market when people who actually matter have their say.

I am fine with that situation. I think Backus would be an upgrade in pass protection, but may hurt our running game a bit.

Yet, one has to accept, IMHO, that this is a band-aid fix. A long term solution needs to be found.

Are we talking salary or performance & skill ?

Cause if salary dictates ability then Kolb should be the MVP of the league next year, and Stewart Bradley will be in the Pro Bowl.

The Redskins prove every year that a big salary doesn't mean big production so I am not sure the point that is trying to be made here.
