I guess him putting up better scoring numbers by knocking down wide open three's has kinda gone to his head. I dont mind having Frye back for more money, I just hope Kerr doesnt lose his head and give him a Boris Diaw type contract.
I wouldnt says its gone to his head. I would say he knows his stock is as high as it has ever been and he needs to take advantage of it... Nothing wrong with that. You would do the same thing. Players have a small window to make this kind of money...

He felt slighted last summer. He signed with the Suns to prove himself worthy of a larger contract. He has had a nice season and deserves a larger pay day.

The Suns don't know what they're going to do this off season because there are far too many variables they don't control.

If Viktor Kryapa returns to the NBA next season I would like for the Suns to snag him. He is a player I always wanted for the Suns before he went back to Europe from Chicago. His stats do not do him justice but he is 27 year old Russian SF/ PF who at 6'9" has excellent moves inside. Actually I think he could play all three front line positions if needed. IMO, he is a player that has never found his niche in the NBA. I think Phoenix would bring out the best in him. In Chicago he just wasted away. Anyway, he could be an option if Frye wants the Suns to show him the money.

Most likely Amare will chose Miami if he leaves us. Their fans seem to be 100% sure that they will be willing to offer the full max to Wade plus either Bosh or Amare. They would still have enough cap room to offer a near max contract so someone else.

What could we hope for from Miami in a sign and trade? Nothing really future picks or maybe Beasley.

Nothing that keeps us competitive.

The other options for Amare are probably New Jersey and Chicago and those teams won't offer us much in return in a sign and trade either.

Even Houston who has a great amount of assets to offer in a sign and trade won't keep us competitive.

Better than nothing.

There is absolutely no reason for a team with cap to do sign and trade for Amare, unless Amare rejects to go there without sign&trade and rather take much lower offer from the Suns.
Either Suns take the risk on Amare's health and offer competitve contract and build around him with additional moves, or they just lose him without compensation.
Frye would be an option in the latter case if Nash weren't traded to start a rebuilding right away. It'd help Suns to still be a .500 team withou no chance of playoffs for two more years while Nash is still here. Otherwise, we'd let him go if he asked for more than what he is getting.

I would prefer a S+T to NJ instead of Beasley... Beasley is alot like Clark IMO, mroe of a small forward than a power forward. At least if we do a trade with NJ we might get their high draft pick, Terrance Williams+ someone else(Yi?) in return...

Channing plays Rasheed Wallace basketball without the defense or ability to hit a contested jumper. He is worth more than what he has right now, but what he has right now is all he was offered before.

Why announce this now? Why not wait until after the playoffs?

Much ado about nothing. This is not a surprise. Frye has played above his contract, which was super low due to his minimal role in Portland, is young and wants to get paid more now that he is contributing to a winner. As others have said, $3-4m seems very reasonable for his role on the team, plus he's a hometown guy and a big man, which gets a premium over some random 2 guard chucker.

I would not pay him Boris money, but 3-4 range for 4-5 years is fine by me.

Frye is a rich man's Dan Langhi. He is so soft it is laughable. He should never be more than a 3pt specialist of the bench mabye a backup forward.

Doesn't really matter that he is 6'11 he still can't rebound or post up.

3M$ per is the most I'd pay him per year. Maybe not even that with the new CBA coming in play. He is not that valueable to take the risk of possibly having a bad contract for some years then.

I sure hope Frye opts out. This guy is the WORST defensive center in the league and I wanna know which sorry team will give him a contract higher than what he has currently!

New York,Golden State come to mind.
Actually he'd be a nice role player on a team loaded with bigs who can do all the things he can't.

Unfortunately, we're not loaded with bigs, so no matter how much people hate him, at this point we're still better with him than without him.

Does he count as "big"? I imagine that Hill, Dragic or Barbosa could play center just as effectively as him.

He was pretty disappointing in the OKC loss. He had a sequence in the final minute that was horrible. First he wiffs on a step back TWO and then he makes a WEAK play at the other end that resulted in an "and one." Pretty much optimized why he is 3-4 million dollar a year "Big Man."

He's been pretty disappointing in a lot of games but it usually coincides with the team itself playing disappointingly. I still think he has helped us much more than he's hurt us though I don't know if I'd credit him for any single win any more than I'd blame him for any single loss.

When the team is playing fairly well he usually does the same and his positive play allows other key players to get a little more rest but when things go south so does he, and quickly. He can't man up on anyone in the low post but as part of the bench crew there have been times when everything else about his defense has been just short of stellar.

Anyone with good length and the ability to hit the three is going to have some value in this league especially if he's the 7th or 8th guy in your rotation. But we're having to rely on Channing as if he's a starting caliber big man and he just isn't.

I think on this iteration of the Suns, Frye is a little more valuable because of his 3 pt shooting. While this year's team is much more balanced, and with Amare and JRich can play inside much better, the 3 ball is still a big part of our game. We thrive having 6+ guys who can go off on any given night from 3pt land. As long as Frye is one of those guys who is a legit threat for that, he's filling an important role. I certainly prefer him to the Dan Langhi/elder-Jim Jackson's of the world in that role.

Frye is so annoying to watch as a fan. Yea he can make threes when he is wide open but he is invisible on defense and makes stupid plays, TO's, fouls and help defense. Dude is garbage but when he's on fire he makes a lot of threes.

I wonder if he realizes that once he leaves here he will return into obscurity. Hows Q Richardson doing theses days, or Marion or Raja or Jumaine Jones? Nobodys before they got here and nobody after they left. Soft as tissue Charmin will become the same thing.

Actually Quentin is doing very well with the Heat. I thought Marion was doing okay with the Mavs but not to the level he had with the Suns. Raja was already well into his decline when we traded him. Also, Raja was an important role player with the 76'ers in their run to the NBA finals and his one year in Utah was clearly a success. Marion was a highly regarded Juco player who met with some success at UNLV so it's kind of hard to call him a nobody either.

As for Frye, he'd be better off drifting into obscurity than staying with the Suns when clearly in Phoenix he has value only as a whipping boy. I'm not sure what all the hatred is about. We're not paying him like a star, we're paying him like a role player. As a role player, IMO, he has clearly earned his contract and more.
