I agree with you 100% that Bosa will be a nightmare for the Cardinals, but they CAN NOT take him....Cards run a 3-4 front....Bosa is 100% a 4-3 DE. You'd be essentially drafting a guy not to use him, but so that another team can't.
Putting Bosa in a 3-4 is dumb....just draft a WR and turn him into a CB. If you want the DE you draft Josh Allen who is a textbook future all pro 3-4 DE.
If the 9ers get Bosa and he matches up with DJ Humphries...it's over. Put Bosa down for 3 sacks, 7 QB hits and 12 hurries a game.

49 days till we all find out...it's gonna be a LONG LONG 49 days

FYI- Cards defensiveCoach Vance Joseph says Bosa can play OLOB in 3-4.Cards LB Coach who was at Ohio State says Bosa can play LB also.NFL.com evaluations say Bosa can play 4-3 DE or 3-4 DE.Bosa says he can play 3-4 DE or 4-3 DE or LB.VJoseph says Bosa can be like Bradley Chubb who was a DE in College who moved to OLB in a 3-4.Bosa is athletic .enough

The Niners are going to get a very good defensive lineman at #2, no matter which one they pick (Bosa/Allen/Williams). Cards gotta figure out the best way to get the most value for themselves out of this draft class. I think that is trading down, but we will see if they can pull it off.

Past history says trading down doesn`t work well in the Cardinals case.Draft Bosa #1 and work on building the rest of the team with the other 10 picks.Don`t get fancy or overthink it.

It's very possible nobody will give them the trade value they want for the #1 pick, so they will be forced into your strategy.

Bro, you crack me up...

What you just claimed as dumb, is EXACTLY what YOUR Chargers did with his brother...When John Pagano was the DC, they ran a one gap scheme 3-4, just like we will run...

In fact the Chargers, who were one of the few 3-4 teams (before the sceme became popular again) and year in and year out drafted college 4-3 DEs and they all made the move to OLB...Shawne Merriman, Shaun Phillips, and Melvin Ingram, just to name a few in recent years...

It is EXTREMELY common for a college 4-3 end to adapt into a 3-4 OLB...In fact Chandler Jones, was a 4-3 DE in college, drafted and played DE with the Pats and then transitioned to OLB with us...

Heh Ingram lined up at TACKLE a lot at South Carolina. Ingram once lined up and took a direct snap on a fake punt and took it to the house at South Carolina.

I have no bones about putting Bosa at 3-4 backer. He'll be good at any position the Cardinals play him at.

My ideal situation is to trade down with Oakland and take either 1.) Q Williams or 2) Josh Allen. Both have good shots at being really good players, and both help put pressure on the QB. With Oaklands second 1st round pick, take Deebo Samuel. It might be a bit high, but he gives the Cardinals another weapon on offense who can stress the defense both vertically AND horizontally. Then with #33....OG Chris Lindstrom who will take over LG and play their for the next 10 years.

I was trying to understand the big deal with the 3-4 or 4-3 argument...and referenced Joey Bosa. So now I am cool with Bosa at #1...still

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/06/14/joey-bosa-says-3-4-or-4-3-is-no-big-difference/

https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio...tudy-joey-bosas-fit-in-san-diegos-3-4-defense

Worrying about his coverage ability is like worry about Patrick Peterson's tackling ability.

The #1 thing is his ability to rush the passer and #2 is his play against the run.

If he is in coverage then there is a blitz going down, and if he gets exploited there, then the biltz didn't get home.

People worrying about Bosa and his coverage ability should consider Josh Allen ability to hold up versus the run or Quinnen Williams ability to hold up against bigger stronger NFL linemen. Those factors have been brought up concerning Allen and Williams.

Passing on Bosa would be the dumbest thing the Cardinals will have done in franchise history imo. Even worse than some of the big time whiffs they've made in drafting QBs over the years.

Especially because chances are that the Niners will then instead take Bosa who will then proceed to terrorize Rosen and other Cardinals QBs for the next 10-12 years twice every season.

Bosa is a no brainer. Cards know they are taking him if they have the #1. Cards are trying to create as much hype as possible to get a crazy down situation as another option to explore. The only problem with that is they might end up getting it and be in a situation where they need to win a parlay with longer odds to pay off. I don't have much faith in Keim being able to cobble together like 3 great picks that all work out to make it a net positive.

Niners will get a good pass rusher even if the Cards take Bosa. It's a good group of pass rushers in the draft this year.

Regardless of who we pick, a team shouldn’t be worried about drafting a player to keep him from a division opponent. That’s the wrong way of conducting business. If you consider him the best player on the board pull the trigger, if not don’t draft him just because

Agreed. I want Bosa but he’s no Aaron Donald... Sign me up for Ed O if we drop down a few spots

There are just so many questions marks with Murray I am going to be very surprised if we reach for him at first overall, or even another team that is in greater need for a QB than us via trading up.

His interviews (Dan Patrick great example) don't make him seem like someone likely to lead a group of men in the NFL. Bama was really the first test he had against a quality D and was getting man handled early. He padded the stat line after Bama was in control and seemed like D let up and was gassed. Bama D, while good this year, was not the pure juggernaut we have seen at various times.

Watching a defender grab his jersey with one hand and effortlessly toss him to the ground is not a great sign and his legs aren't going to keep defenders from touching him. His playing weight when going to AM was listed at 177, and even if the OU weight of 195 was real is he still going to be as shifty and fast much heavier? I don't like his chances of survival when men nearly twice his weight with a lot inertia behind them hey their paws on him.

IIRC the consensus before he changed his mind on baseball was he would be a mid round #1 at best, and many were saying possibly even a 2nd rounder. The consensus also was that he was at very best the 2nd best NFL QB prospect. Then he declares and all the sudden he will be the 2nd QB drafted and in the top 10. Then he shows up at the combine 30lbs heavier and doesn't work out, but somehow barely hits 5'10" and he is now a lock to be #1 overall. So much hype being manufactured for league and media benefit and so much smoke screening going on from multiple camps (various teams, Murray camp) it's hard to know how it will really all play out.

I know Charlie Casserly touted Heath Shuler as a QB, but has he been more successful in drafting other QB's, and if so with whom?

Yeah this is a good point. I think Bosa has the highest floor but QW has the highest ceiling. With Allen somewhere in the middle

Q.Williams seems like a nice kid but I wonder about his conditioning and he looks soft.He looks like he needs to get in better shape for the NFL.Bosa seems very agile for his size and frame. We know Bosa has the dedication and work ethic to continue to try and improve.Do we know that about Q.Williams? Not ripping on Williams just seriously wondering if he will be hungry enough to work harder even after getting a big payday or will he just roll with it?As for Josh Allen...….fine player but I question his run defense strength on the edge and overall run defense..

Second dumbest, Terrell Suggs debacle will always be the dumbest move in Cardinals history.
