Looks pretty certain that we will be picking in the top 3 in the draft. This will assure us of having the opportunity to choose a sure thing in Chance Warmack, described in this way by the two draft gurus of ESPN.

"He's as big, strong, nasty lineman with good smarts and athleticism. He shows awareness, is an easy mover in pass protection and has power as a run-blocker. The best guard I've evaluated in the past decade, he is the rare interior lineman worthy of a top-10 overall pick."

"Dominated on the interior against Georgia. He is the best lineman on his team, which says a lot. Takes defenders where he wants them to go. A powerful run-blocker, with initial power in tight spaces and the ability to seek out LBs on the second level."

The question is, Would we take him knowing we need him so badly?

Why not an OT in this spot instead? Well, the draft is extremely strong in the OT department. With such a high 2nd round pick, we could still get an OT of the likes of Eric Fisher-the top senior OT, Dallas Thomas-the 2nd best senior who can play either LT or OG, or Lane Johnson-less experience than the others but with possibly the most upside in a couple years.

The (should be new) coaching staff will be looking to add excitement to jump start the fans enthusiasm and will undoubtedly take Geno Smith if he is there. I like your selection a lot though. This Oline must get better unjust can't see this team passing on a QB. I dread the thought of them taking Barkley with the third overall pick.

IMO top 3 would be too high for Warmack.

Jarvis Jones would be who I pray for. Luke Joeckel next. Maybe Warmack third.

I really dislike all of the QB's rated as 1st or 2nd rounders this year.

Highly doubt we take a guard with a top 5 pick. Wouldn't be against trading back though if we can't get joeckel.

The first thing that has to be addressed is QB.

No Vick ...please.

If we sign two stud free agent O-lineman , then we can draft a qb if deemed worthy.

That still doesn't address the QB situation especially if we let Kolb walk.

I think we keep Kolb , sign Alex Smith and then drafting Geno Smith would solidify a position we have been terribly weak at over the last 3 years.

Smith, and 2 lineman along with a new professional offensive coordinator to go along with this defense and we would once again be respectable. We might even contend for a playoff spot.

Is Smith an UFA after this season?

We'd pick #8 if the season ended today. The four wins at the beginning of the season will likely keep us out of the top 3.

No, but he's due a very early roster bonus of some $2 million that could/should put him on the market at the opening of free agency if the 49ers don't want him any more.

Not to be a dick bro, but its clear youve done zero research on the 2013 draft, and are just throwing out names you heard analysts talk about.

"We're drafting top 3! We can get Chance Warmack!"

Chance isnt even top 10 quality. Hes not even on par with David DeCastro last year, and whered he go? 15 I think.

Geno Smith
Luke Joeckle

Demontre Moore
Mingo
Montgomery
Jarvis Jones
Milliner
Star Louteliele
Manti Teo
Bjoern Werner

Go read up on all these guys so you know what our options are.

Draft him, sign Jake long and sign michael Vick.

I don't know what you're on but I want 6 pounds of it. Vick? Really? You mean the same Vick who was responsible for 19 turnovers all by his lonesome in 9 games this season? Vick sucks so loud that the vibrations are being picked up by the Voyager II space craft. As for a top 3 pick, not at this moment. but it might happen but it doesn't matter. Knowing this franchise they will blow it on an undersized and slow defensive back.

vince56, it is brilliant. You're saying that if we sign Vick, we'll keep half of our fan base. I'll buy that.

We had a higher kickoff return average than the Seahawks. Of course, we had a lot more practice at it.

If we draft #3 we will draft a QB or we will be laughed at. You rarely take a lineman with a top 5 pick. If you do not have a QB you do not have a team. I still we will try and get he SF QB who is pi--ed off. Just hope we do not give to much for him.

If ever in the history of the NFL a team needed a QB it is us.
