BTW....I'm not a troll. I have been on this board off and on this offseason talking about Jones and monitoring the Holliday situation. I am always respectful of the fans on this board and the Cardinals.

You have been very respectful! :D

And you are welcome to post here as much as you want (or at least imo).

I agree. He's been cool. I like the other fans' perspective.

Just because the Chiefs kicked our asses doesn't make Alphaman a troll. Bastards.

I also agree that neither Minnis or Morris fits our needs. I'd rather have McAddley and Gilmore. I trust Sullivan's judgement on Gilmore, and McAddley may surprise a lot of people this year.

OK that's pretty good. Of course he's not in that class. My point was that there was no way that Horn was signed to be our return guy after the season Hall just put up.

So...then that means he was signed to take the jobs of one of those "awesome" receivers?

Olandis Gary is not a good NFL back anymore after the injuries he had robbed him of the little speed he had left. Throw Gary's stats out the window (hell I could get a 1,000 with Denver) Jones is a better all around back.

It's interesting how fans view the same players. I'd say that 70% of Chiefs fans prefer Gary over Jones. The general perception is that Jones is a bust because he couldn't produce behind the Cardinals' massive offensive line. I am in the minority amongst my Chiefs brethern. I'd prefer Jones and by a wide margin.

But if the Chiefs want him, they need to trade for him. Eleven other teams get a crack at him come June 1.
Even if the Chiefs have other options, as far as Jones is concerned, the balls in the Chiefs' court.

But at least I knocked a couple of those little turds flat on their asses! Made me feel like "Terrible" Terry Tate!

Basically. The Chiefs think he fits the mold of the receiver they like to have, but he won't go to camp with the job being his to lose. Morris has an edge because he is a former 1st round pick and is a larger cap hit to cut. Minnis has an edge because he has shown flashes in this offense (like beating Charles Woodson for a TD in his first game) and was Vermeil's first draft pick (3rd round 2 years ago). Horn right now is behind both of them but will get a legitimate shot to win the 5th WR spot.

Oh I agree.

Gary is obviously a product of the system with Denver, and has had a few injuries lately. Gary was a slowish back to begin with, and from what I hear he is now a very slow back.

Jones' main problem is: he has terrible run vision. Watching Shipp vs. Jones and you can tell that a) Jones is more physically talented b) Shipp is more mentally talented. Jones, imo, will never be a great NFL back because he lacks the instincts. Shipp will be better (and he was head and shoulders better than Jones) but he lacks the speed to be an elite back.

Gary won't be able to provide the big plays that Jones will, but he would probably be a little more consistent on a run-to-run basis.

True and that is why I think they will try to make a trade. But I guarantee you that if the negotiation shifts from a 7th round pick in 2003 or a conditional 7th rounder in 2004 to involving Minnis or Morris, then the Chiefs will have no problem walking away with out a pick coming back.

I've thrown this out. Swap 2nd round picks, we send you Minnis, you send us Jones.

Thoughts?

Whatever KC offers we should pretty much jump on. Yes, we should negotiate but, if we release TJ we get NOTHING!

Personally I wouldn't. Our second is #37, basically a low first rounder, and we're pretty much stocked up on project recievers with potential.

I know that Graves wants to add picks. His allusion to mid level picks yesterday is pretty much about where I think He thinks Jones has value. Whether he's right or not? I dunno.

Jones for a 4th sounds reasonable...if the Chiefs were willing, I would love to see a 3rd round pick instead...but the Cards can't get greedy here...dumping Jones for some sort of compensation has to be a priority...

His wife must have a job in az or something...I am from Missouri and hate the kansas jayhawks..and I all he really knows to talk about is basketball - mostly kansas. he is now filling in for jurecki and lewis because of technical problems..I hate hearing about kansas basketball all of the time...

I would take a fifth to seventh for him, but I would try to get as much as possible.

I'd be all for doing a Morris - for - Jones and as high as a fourth rounder. Morris a former number one (meaning he's got skills) that has failed to live up to expectations - but he's never been coached by the great Jerry Sullivan. Hmmmmm . . .

For that opportunity we give up a fourth of fifth, I say it's worth the risk.

Jones was also a number one that failed to live up to expectations.. Lets do a Morris for Jones straight accross trade no picks need to change hands.

But, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Lance Mitchell MLB, from Oklahoma. It's April. Gotta gamble a little bit...

sweet d's got the right thoughts. both players have waaaay underachieved, both players have had "highlight" games, both players don't fit with their clubs future plans. just do it straight up.

I don't know why alot of people are for Morris....He blew out his knee...And he hasn't played football in 2 years!!! So i would rather take minnis! He is just like Thomas Jones, a first round bust! Get Minnis, and get a draft pick!!

GO CARDINALS!

Actually, it's not that Morris has failed to live up to expectations, it's that he got hurt 2 years ago. He wasn't 100% at the beginning of last year so they put him on IR, even though he got to 100% during the first half of the year last year. When he's played he's done very well. Also, the Chiefs take a big cap hit on him if they trade him so they'll require some value to be convinced to take that hit. Jones on the other hand is in the last year of his contract. That means that his signing bonus is going to hit this year no matter what. Therefore, by releasing or trading him, the Cardinals actually save against the cap to the tune of $500K.

I don't think you'll get a 4th or 5th for him. 6th will be the highest. Chiefs don't have a 6th so I'm thinking we'll likely go conditional 7th in 2004.
