Graves is inept IMO, but Angelos is despicable. I'll take RG over him any day of the week.

Excellent Grasshopper!! See how everything is relative. I am sure you don't feel that aggressive behavior against Abe Polin...but he may have passed....

Plenty of players have played like crap here and went on to have stellar carreers somewhere else. I have no idea if he's any good but if coach Whiz wanted this guy mgt should have gone out and got him. Now that we have a decent coaching staff the front office needs to step it up and get their @#$% together. There is obviously something wrong if they have to resort to cutting players at this stage of the game.

Dont forget the blunder that was Buster Davis. Band-aids over band-aids.

Fix the Fitz situation..... Draft good players, not jokes, and RG might get off my " Dead to me" List.

Draft good players, not jokes,

That's a tall order, the draft is the love child of dumb luck and bad luck. If you figure out how to successfully draft good players, without fail, time and again, than you'll be an NFL consultant for life.

Not sure I understand the logic of many of the posts in this thread.

We are not targeting any top free agents this year. The defense of the front office in this case is we don't have the cap room and this was not the planned approach to free agency this year. They just want to add some solid depth in free agency. OK, I can buy that.

We target Chillars as a player we want. It appears to me he wants to come here. We lose out on him because we are messing with Fitz's contact. The guy says he just can't wait any longer for the Cards. The defense of the front office now is the guy isn't that good and would only be a depth player anyway.

Guess we have Graves and Co. covered no matter what happens. I for one am very disappointed we didn't get this signing done....As for those who say the Rams didn't go after him too hard...A better team in the Packers sure thought enough of his ability to go after him....

I dont get this that he Chillar is good.. Frankly, and dont call me Shirley, I would have have been disappointed if we signed Chillar.. Never was geeked up about the guy.. And all this talk about the better team signing him.. Well the Pack just got alot of money off the books when Favre retired.. We'll see how good they are now.. Look at it realistically.. They were good last year with a HoF'er.. But this next year? We'll see..

I think I speak for red desert and PJ1 as well as shme self when I say that I am not pissed that we didn't sign him. I never really wanted the guy to begin with. What irks us to no end is that the team wanted him and missed out due to Graves' incompetence (once again).

Youd think that right? I mean on the surface it seems that way.. With everything that everybody reads on here it would point that way.. But I think we wanted him at a reasonable price as a filler guy.. But Chillar and his agent valued himself as big payday player starter.. And thats just not something we werent interested in.. Thats how I take it.. But hey, Graves is the easy way out to place blame.. right?

What I think has nothing to do with what I read here, it has everything to do with what I have read in blogs and in statements from the organization as well as from Chillar and his agent. It also has to do with the fact that until Fitz's contract is approved there really is no money out there for anyone else. That isn't pure conjecture, its reality.

I also dont think that Chillar or his agent would be dumb enough to consider him a big payday player. the guy is a roleplayer/backup who has like 5 career sacks.

Also, Graves is not the easy person to place blame on anymore IMO. The board loves him nowadays. I am in the definite minority who still needs to be convinced he deserves his paycheck.

Well, your theory seems to be wrong.. Any agent is gonna get the most money they can.. Any players ego is skyrocketed.. They have to be to play this competitive game.. And is any coincidence he signed with a team that just got a HoF'ers big contract off the books? Emotions sometimes get in the way of rational thinking when its your favorite team your talking about..

C'mon man, the guy just signed a 2yr 5 mill contract. I think if nothing else that shows that he and his agent understand and were honest about his value. If they thought he was so damned great then why would they accept that deal??

OK. Lets agree that as you say he sucks. The Cards had him come in and it certainly appears based on the quotes from Chillar that they did want to sign him. He got tired of waiting for the Fitz situation to clear up and signed with Green Bay.

Are you then saying you are happy that our front office is bringing in players that suck?

Are we then saying that our front office is so incompetent that it saves itself from signing players that they think are good that really suck.

Interesting take on the whole thing.........

OK. I guess you have more updated information than I do. From what I read the Cards were still interested but he didn't want to wait for them any longer.

So we did have the cap space and made an offer and he wanted more money and went with the Packers.

I hadn't read this anywhere............Thanks for clearing this up.

What you are missing is that the FO didn't pass on him, like you're saying. They couldn't get their money right because they haven't completed Fitz's deal. PATHETIC JOB RG

Graves addressed the missed opportunity to sign free-agent linebacker Brandon Chillar, who signed with Green Bay Wednesday. Graves said while the Cards needed cap room to bring in Chillar, it wasn’t the reason Chillar ended up with the Packers.

Chillar told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that since the Cards had some “in-house issues” trying to fix the Fitzgerald contract, “once Green Bay offered this kind of contract, I didn’t want to miss out on the opportunity.”

Graves had ongoing discussions with Chillar’s agent, trying to ascertain Chillar’s value. The two sides didn’t agree on numbers, especially when the Cardinals were unsure if Chillar would eventually win a starting role.

The cap situation didn’t really affect (the outcome),” Graves said. …

By saying "didn't really" he proves that it did in some capacity. Had the contract not affected it at all he would have said "the the cap situation didn't affect..."

When you read the full piece, your point is a "distinction without a difference..."

(A distinction without a difference is a type of argument where one word or phrase is preferred to another, but results in no difference to the final outcome.)

What's Graves going to say..."We missed out on Chillar because I didn't have the foresight to recognize the complications with the Fitzgerald contract. I'm sorry but in my opinion the front office dropped the ball on this off season and if it continues good luck trying to keep quality people in the coaching ranks. This team is probably going to end up having 20 million per year wrapped up in WR's and a paper thin defense. Chillar was one of only 2 linebackers that they brought in so obviously Whiz and co. saw something that they didn't see in any other free agents. I'm not saying that Chillar is great but if the coach wanted this guy mgt should have went out and got him.
