Best part is that behind those two is Andre Ellington and Elijhaa Penny (I am going to go all Mitch and say we will carry 5 RBs because this guy is worth keeping), with Stephan Taylor as the lunch pail backup and K Williams on PS for emergencies.
Our RB depth is starting to look like our WR depth.
Nah, Stephen taylor is a terrible running back, he has only made the team due to special teams. If Penny makes the team it will be because he is adequate at special teams and can take his place.
There is no way we can afford to carry 5 rb's. No team in today's nfl should carry five unless two or more are injured.
I am curious what kind of workload chris johnson gets. Personally if I was coach he would never see the field unless there was an injury to DJ - I would rather use ellington as the change of pace back. I hope he does not become a distraction like he did on the Jets if he is stuck on the bench.
Then again, I never would have resigned him for more than the vet min if that, so the cardinals must think more highly of him then I do.
chris johnson is way, way, waaaay more effective at his role than AE ever was or will be.
CJ hits holes better than any cardinal RB I've seen in many yearsNah, Stephen taylor is a terrible running back, he has only made the team due to special teams. If Penny makes the team it will be because he is adequate at special teams and can take his place.

Right, exactly. He and DJ will split the load and every once in awhile Ellington will catch a screen pass and make everyone miss for a 50 yard TD.
The years of the 1,500 yard workhorse are over, and if you want DJ to be that guy, he will be worn out by playoff time. You run 2-3 guys in a rotation the entire year and keep them fresh, they're the guys on offense taking the most pounding, and generally with the shortest careers for a reason. I don't see a problem with spreading out the load of running, in a 60/40 pass/run offense like we have, over 3 backs.
Barring injury I don't think juke will get over 5 touches a game on average with 90%+ going to dj/CJ.Right, exactly. He and DJ will split the load and every once in awhile Ellington will catch a screen pass and make everyone miss for a 50 yard TD.

This. AE is damn good in his RB/WR role, but CJ is the guy I want to see in the backfield after DJ.

Apparently you didn't watch the first half of the season last year. CJ was our running game. Best we've had in some time. He is part of the reason why we went 13 & 3 last year. Why would you want one of the best rb's we've had in years sit on the bench?

You want a good balance of touches for everyone. It's a long season you want to keep everyone as healthy as you can for the playoffs.
wonder if AE was butt hurt when he saw he was not included in the "Tandem"....

In my opinion he just isn't a very good back anymore, it seems most of you disagree.
I watched it, if you look at his production it faded fast in his last 4 games, I was not disappointed when he got injured because David Johnson looked like a superior player from game one and deserved his carries.
