Kobe is a better scorer and defender than CP3. But CP3 is about more than scoring, he's about getting his teamates good shots, and picing up the slack when the clock winds down. Kobe is the guy you want witht he ball down2 with 16 seconds left. CP3 is the guy you want running your offense to control the surges and runs in the game. By getting guys easy shots, they have more left to play D, and by being involved more, they play better D.

Lakers fans talk about hating rather lightly, anyone who disagrees is a "hater". Sounds like a bunch of politicians trying to discredit any other view. Frankly I was a big magic Johnson fan, IMO the best impact player of all time, even if his career was cut short. Magic made others better, much better and that led to being a champion very early in his career. Magic was undoubtedly the force on every showtime laker team as a very young player. He was a very smart player, understood the power of sharing the ball as a teenager.

I am reluctant to declare CP3 a better player right now, as he still needs to prove himself and now is the time. All year long the hornets have beat everyone, every elite team. they had some injuries to west, chandler and lost some games thaty they wouldnt have lost otherwise. It will be interesting to watch CP3 mature n these playoffs. Kobe is still the best player, but it wont be long the way things are going down in new orleans.

Nash won MVP 2 seasons ago and it wasnt because of Marion, Marion was a huge aspect of the Suns system, but it wasnt the be end it all of it.

Nash is in his mid 30s now and it seems, even with 17/11 season, shooting very good %. He looks "worn" out....

Excellent point. Kobe's gonna have to pass the torch eventually. We just need to find out who it will be. 2 years ago, Wade was the flavor of the month, this year its CP3...we'll just wait and see. I personally think its gonna be Lebron.

Wow, so all those leads were a direct result of the Lakers cruising and not because the other teams got hot? I saw every game and I think differently. I wonder if all those other teams that lost big leads were cruising too?
I thought games were based on momentum spurts or maybe most players are wrong when they say that?

More than their fair share, and a ton of 20 point leads.

You know what the Lakers overall point differential was as well, right (3rd in the league)? Since you watched all the games and all, you'd also know that they didn't try to play defense for huge stretches of games when they got up big, yet still had lots of blowout wins. Yeah, they had a lot of big leads.

The Lakers got up big in many games, then let other teams back in. It was a common occurence. If it had happened a couple of times, the kudos go to the team that comes back; when it happens a lot, the criticism goes on the team that gives up the leads consistently...that's called a trend.

Then, at the end of most of those games they clamped down on D and either won or blew them out regaining the big lead. But you know this, since you watched all their games.

I'm lost. Your saying that losing an up and coming player in Bynum and subsequently aquiring an all star in Pau is a reason Kobe deserved the MVP?? Ill agree with you that playing through the torn tendon in the finger has to be excrutiating for Kobe, but thats it.

Meanwhile, CP3 is playing for a team with little history that has been relocated in their short existence, dealt with the Katrina tragedy and had to be relocated to OKC last season. The young man takes this squad on his shoulders and leads them to being one of the top teams in the West. He is a league leader in ppgs, apgs, and steals. Ill argue that he had a better MVP season than Nash back in 04-05. Even national media is considering retracting their previous sentiments that Kobe is the MVP after CP3's performances in the playoffs. Unfortunately, the votes are tallied before the postseason.

Yes, it's hard to integrate players, even very good ones like Bynum and Pau, in and out of the lineup. Kobe was able to adjust his game accordingly and keep the Lakers on top of the toughest conference ever.

As for the Hornets' history, why is that relevant? Aren't we arguing this season?

I don't see how you can claim that Kobe's MVP is a career award and then turn around and use the New Orleans franchise's past as evidence of Paul's MVP credentials.

Probably because A) you made a claim about CP3 that others disagree with, and not just Lakers fans and B) you made a direct comparison in your first post between Kobe and CP3 and C) people love to argue and D) people love to bash the Lakers and Kobe and E) Lakerfans like to stick up for their guys.
