Is it just me or does it feel like there's a lot less "Who?" with our hires this year?

Was Wilks that bad at attracting a staff? Was it because we started so late?

Man, I just hope Anthony is a better coach than OT for us...

No idea why he was hired. I think Mike wanted the polar opposite of Arians but this year was an absolute waste, glad ownership saw that.

I still remember Clements quarterbacking Notre Dame to the National Championship by beating Alabama 24-23 on New Years Eve 1973. That was one of the greatest Alabama teams ever. Welcome to the Arizona Cardinals!!!!

I think Clements goes back far enough at ND that Lindsey Nelson was still calling the games. Damn I'm quickly becoming a geezer.

Good info. A quick review raises the possibility that the relative rankings and numbers were more a function of how good the QB was (especially Favre, Rodgers) than it was Clements' influence. But then too, a case can be made that, as QB coach, Clements is "part of Favre or part of Rodgers."

To understand this better would require intimate knowledge of what went on in meeting rooms, what was said over the sideline mic, whether advice was heeded or ignored etc. (i.e. stuff that's above our pay grade).

Best we can come up with is that, as QB coach, Clements apparently did no harm and was probably a positive influence on the QB's he coached; but to speculate farther one way or the other would probably be a reach.

I have to say I like this coaching staff much better than Wilks.

I think Wilks' staff had a lot to do with his spectacular failure. Not a single notable name on the staff. Apparently hastily thrown together with what was available at the time. KK's staff already is MUCH better - on paper at least.

I think KK is as much of a wildcard as Wilks was. Good coordinators VERY often do not make good head coaches. There's a different skillset involved that some of them just don't have. And supporting staff is SO important.

Keim needs to nail this draft and add at least a couple of impact FA's and get the new regime off on the right foot.

I remember watching the Norte Dame highlights with Lindsey Nelson the next day “After an exchange of punts the Irish take over on their own 44 yard line”

You guys may be buying, but I'm still selling Cardinals stock.

We're Cardinal fans, we're supposed to buy. I've always been a koolaid drinker when it comes to the Cardinals. At least until the season starts & reality sets in. I thought we would be at least a 500 team last year. By halftime of the opener, I realized I was 100% wrong & we might be lucky to win 1-2 games. As far as entertainment is concerned, I'm 100% buying. I could care less at this juncture, if that entertainment results in W's. As unwatchable as they were, I turned off the TV (for the rest of the season) after the Rams game when we never went past the 50. I'll just be thankful if I can at least watch them again.

I am cautiously optimistic about this season. The staff sounds experienced and well respected and now it is a matter to see how they work together. One thing I am confident about is we won’t see as bland a team as we saw last year, that teams was so awful the chances of a repeat of that is miniscule.

Free agency and the draft will go a long way to show us how serious they are about making significant improvements or not.

I agree, but you’re being very kind in referring to last year’s edition as “bland”. Vince Tobin was bland. Every Cardinal coach from last year should be banned from the NFL for 2 years:barf:

The Packers had the third ranked scoring offense in 2016. Clement gets dismissed and they fall to 20th and then 14th in the next two years . I agree it's easier to have success with a Rodgers or a Favre but the coaching cant be minimized. I wont call this a great hire but it's certainly a solid one based on what they are looking for and what a guy like 2k needs .
