Boston did not play last night (they are at Minnesota tonight) so the Cavs are in a three way tie for 7th place and only a game behind the Knicks for 6th.

I'm beginning to think the Suns are geographically challenged.

Monday the 8th:

The Cavs are currently in a three way tie for 8th place with Miami and Toronto. These three are a half game behind Boston for 7th and 1 1/2 games behind the Knicks for sixth.

The Cavs play Atlanta tonight and then play Toronto on Wed. These are crucial games because their schedule gets a lot tougher after that. The key for the Cavs is to stay close because their last seven games, five are against teams with under 500 records.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
March 9th Cleveland beat the Hawks and are now tied with Boston for 7th place.

Boston playes #6 New York on Tuesday the 9th. New York leads the Celtics and Cavs by one game.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boston beat New York and is tied for 6th. Miami beat Orlandl. The Cavs are tied for 8th with Miami 1/2 game out of 6th.

March 10th

The Cav beat Toronto and the Celtics lost to the Lakers. The Knics and Heat were idle. This puts the Knicks in soul possession of 6th with the Cavs in 7th place.

Cavs are NOT tied with the Knicks. Cavs own the tie breaker. They have beat the Knicks 3 games this year. So Cavs are in sole posession of the 6th spot.

On Sunday, the Cavs, Knicks and Heat all won (Boston was idle).

The Knicks beat Milwaukee which was disappointing. The Knicks finally have Alan Houston and Tim Thomas playing and they made a difference. The odd part was that the Bucks shot only 41% to the Knicks 48% yet were within 3 points because they outrebounded the Knicks by 13 boards even though Vin Baker had 10 rebounds.

Orlando up 10 against the Lakers!

Go TMac. You can help us in many ways! :D

And every loss for the Lakers improves the chance of Kobe leaving in my opinion!

I jinxed them!

Kobe had like 2 points at the half and now has 34 and the Lakers are within 2.

TMac 37/5/8 Kobe 34/3/3

Orlando leads 102-100 with 0:57 to go!

OVERTIME

Kobe drives to the basket to tie the game.

TMac blocks Karl Malone's layup to secure overtime.

Only 3 games today but twice we have overtime.

24 points for Kobe in the 4th quarter.

But missed the game winner with 2 seconds to go. Start overtime with another basket! Kobe is going nuts on the Magic.
TMac with the assist to Howard.

TMac 37/7/9
Kobe 38/3/3

Cleveland wins their 7th in a row, and is now in sole possession of 6th place in the East, 3 games behind the 5th place team. Unfortunately, the 7th and 8th teams are only a game behind. And Boston is 2 behind a playoff spot.

Looks like we might finally get that Cleveland pick after all.

I'd say the chances are about 2-1 that we will never actually draft with that pick. I believe we'll ship that pick to Charlotte to take Eisley. We will follow it up with a trade of C-Jake to Charlotte for (wink wink) future considerations.

Let's face it. If a player like Kobe comes here, Casey would just ride pine anyway.

He's exactly the type of player that would be attractive to Charlotte, young, cheap, productive, and future potential. Plus he has some leadership qualities that would make a difference in a young team.

wow, Washington just beat the kings 114-108, on a back-to-back as well. That means both Atlanta & Washington are just 1 game behind us, although it seems like thats been the case forever now.

Kwame had a great game, 30/19/3

Atlanta is also winning 60-38 over the Mavs, in Dallas.

Edit: Atlanta beating Dallas 69-44 at the half! Stephen Jackson with 31pts so far.

Wow.

Atlanta shot 50% from the field including 42% for three and grabbed 13 offensive rebounds while outrebounding the Mavs. Get this, Bob Sura had 11 rebounds. The Mavs outscored the Hawks by 24 points in the second, but unfortunately for them they were behind by 25 at halftime. :D

Back to topic at hand, the Cavs host the Jazz on Friday. This is a huge game for both teams, espcially after the Jazz missed a big opportunity when they lost to the Nuggets the other night. Boozer should have a good night facing Googs.

Let's say we end up with the #4 pick after the lottery (someone else gets lucky and we don't). Would any of you consider giving up the #4 and the Cleveland pick (if they make the playoffs) for the #1 or #2.

In my mind Okafor is the #1 of this draft. I don't think we want another high schooler and Pavel is too iffy for a #4 pick.

We play Okafar and Amare as our 4 and 5. I don't really care which is which. Okafor's defense would be a great compliment to Amare's game. Some say he's the best defender to come out in a few years.

We can't have the #4 pick--Charlotte is guaranteed that pick.

The way people are talking about this draft you'd be lucky to trade #3 & #5 for the #2, much less #1. Maybe Atlanta would trade the 2 if Howard was taken at 1 - they need more than one player.

I agree. In this draft it's going to take a heck of a lot more than a mid first-round draft pick to move up 3-4 spots to #1. Infected takes more than that in any draft.

One thing is for certain. The future is wide open for the Phoenix Suns. They have young team full of potential at almost every possession. They are going to have one of the top picks in this draft. It also looks like they will have a #15-17 pick as well. They have the rights to one of the top players in Europe. They have a bunch of money to spend. Even though it hasn't been the best year of basketball here in Phoenix it should be an interesting summer. Just following the summer league team will be fun.

If the Phoenix Suns keep their own first-round draft pick I'm betting on drafting one of the following players. Of course some of this depends on where they actually draft.

Emeka Okafor
Dwight Howard
Kosta Perovic
Martynas Andriuskevicius

Also, this summer will be even more exciting for the diehard NBA fans because of the expansion draft. There should be no shortage of things to talk about that's for sure.

The situation in the East is getting ridiculous. The Cavs in eight place, but are only a half game ahead of Boston, one game ahead of Toronto, and only 2 1/2 games ahead of Philadelphia. However, the Cavs are only 1 1/2 games out of 7th and 2 games out of 6th. Yet none of these teams have winning record.
