Yep. He walked CarGo... The problem of course, stems from Tory - for some unknown reason, thought it would be better to have Barrett, a righty, pitch around CarGo instead of bringing in MacFarland, a lefty... Arrenado should've never even had an at-bat that inning...:mad::mad:

They didn't want to walk him. Barrett threw 4 balls on 4 pitches. Barrett just stunk it up.

He shouldn't have been pitching to CarGo, period! Sure, Barrett stinks... but Tory stunk even more last night...

I would say there is a very good chance that any or all of Pollock, Peralta, Drury and Lamb will be gone next season... and let's not even start on the bullpen... What a waste of a solid performance from Greinke!
What a horrible collection of middle inning relievers we have. We really feel the lost of Delgado. Even if he doesn't need Tommy John surgery, the middle inning situation will need to be addressed during the off season. I could swear I heard Bob Brenly make reference to it on the air.

Pollock and Peralta are good supporting players on a team with two sluggers like Goldy and J.D. Drury has been a disappointment. As I've posted before, having him play two positions other than his natural 3B over the past two seasons affected his hitting. Some players can and some players can't.

Regarding Lamb, that's two seasons in a row where he had a great first half as an RBI man and a pathetic second half. He needs to be moved out of the heart of the batting order, now, despite the fact that he is a lefty hitter. I suggest (1) Marte, (2) Iannetta, (3)Peralta, (4) Goldy, (5) Martinez (6) Pollock, (7) Lamb (not just against lefties), (8) Drury as our best lineup for now. And the coaches need to work more with Lamb than they are, or bench him.

Lamb hit .279 with 90 hits, 20 HR's and 67 RBI in the first half. In the second half, he's hitting .200 with 35 hits, 7 HR's and 31 RBI. Just pathetic...
I can't remember the last time I saw Peralta hit a ball out of the infield... I love AJ's defense, but man has he plummeted at the plate. And Drury is a liability at the plate and in the field. When C.O. is healthy, there will literally be no other spot for Drury in the line-up. He is a defensive liability at 3rd base and merely adequate at 2nd. C.O. should be the everyday 2nd baseman with Marte holding down SS.

I will be highly pissed if either Owings or Ahmed bump Ketel Marte from starting SS next season. But I feel it coming.

Lovullo said yesterday on the air that Marte is "holding down the fort". The hell he's holding down the fort (for Owings or Ahmed) at SS. He's filling the position better than either of them ever did.

What better clue do we have than the Manager's quote? It sounds like his mind is made up and he's preparing us to be disappointed.

I agree and the kid is still growing and improving. He led the Mariners in errors last season (22) and he's only made 7 here thus far.

He's not the most consistent hitter, but he has latent power, and his biggest asset is his blinding speed on the bases.

In short, the ONLY thing that Ahmed could possibly have over Marte is fielding % and I think Marte will continue to improve and will make even that gap irrelevant.

He should be our SS unless we find someone better that isn't named Owings or Ahmed.

And Lamb is still batting third, despite him being perhaps the worst run producer on the D-backs since mid-season, certainly the worst of those expected to drive in runs.

How can that important position be treated with such disrespect, considering his 2nd half pathetic OPS directly in front of our two boppers.

It would probably help Lamb to take the pressure off him and drop him to 7th (against righties as well as lefties) where the expectation is certainly lower.

Hey, management. What gives?

No way. That was a pitch around. Either Barrett or Lovullo decided that it was better to pitch to Arrenado.
