The Washington Commanders continue to evaluate prospects ahead of this month's 2025 NFL draft. We now know of another player Washington will host on a top-30 visit: Louisville defensive end Ashton Gillotte. Dave Heilman first reported Gillotte's visit to Washington.

Very popular player after the combine, stock on the rise

Interestingly, Gillotte is the second Louisville player the Commanders will host on a top 30 visit. Cornerback Quincy Riley will also visit Washington.

On paper, Gillotte seems like the ideal player for Washington general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn. Gillotte played four years at Louisville, appearing in 51 games with 38 starts. After recording 11 sacks and 15 tackles for loss as a junior in 2023, Gillotte finished with 4.5 sacks and 10 tackles for loss.

In his first draft leading the Commanders, Peters chose several multi-year starters, players who had played a lot of college football — productive college football. Gillotte would fit that profile. While Gillotte is a good athlete, he often wins with power and hand usage.

Here's Gillotte's Relative Athletic Score (RAS), courtesy of Kent Lee Platte.

Ashton Gillotte is a DE prospect in the 2025 draft class. He scored a 9.75 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 52 out of 2012 DE from 1987 to 2025.https://t.co/HnqzB7OnCbpic.twitter.com/zU6mq67c0Q

Gillotte is a high-effort, high-energy player, which makes him fun to watch on tape.

Ashton Gillotte has some of my favorite tape to watch from this edge class. Speed to power is so consistent + really nice cross-chop & inside counter. Also love the motor & hand pop vs the run pic.twitter.com/CT9JW2uoQw

Most importantly, Gillotte has proven he can set the edge in the run game. While the Commanders need pass rushers, Gillotte is a player who can help the pass rush while not being a liability against the run.
