I'm offering another possibility to the discussion.

I don't understand how some of your posts are seen as anything other than this. It seems the usual suspects are the ones who question it and try to force you to defend the position as if it's your own when it's merely another possibility and not stated as factual or as your own theory, just a possibility since it's all conjecture until something solid is reported, which may never happen. It hasn't just happened to you though, I hope you've noticed that and don't scale back posts like it because you're asked to defend them.

It is just a message board where fans float ideas, no one is anymore of an authority on matters more than others, despite how some people view things. I swear some people try to convince others of things like it would actually change something with the team. Like if I convinced you to see things as I do and that a certain player is awful that will make sure we never see them in a Suns uniform again.

Come on. If you come out and start throwing support behind Triano as coach, and someone who disagrees comes up with a bunch of reasons why he SHOULDN'T, how do you retain credibility if you don't give any reasons why he should? That's just an example, not specific to just this one instance, but since you're generalizing anyway...

I don't want to see Triano retained and I don't think anyone does. If he is, then we might as well try to find the bright side but until that happens I will continue hoping that isn't being considered. I can understand some people trying to cushion the blow by preparing for it now but I won't get caught up in that until it happens. I don't think anyone wants that to happen though.

Things might be different for technical jobs as opposed to managerial. Never, as an interviewee or interviewer was there any discussion of salary. Heck, if they'd have asked me I wouldn't have been able to answer because I didn't know what the salary would be - I could have guessed fairly accurately but I wouldn't have done it. I'd tell the Human Resources folks I wanted (or not) to hire the person and they made an offer (or not). I think this is (or was) pretty standard procedure in the electronics, software and aeronautical industries where I worked.

Yes. The people who railed against tanking NEVER did any of the above.

EVERYONE does the above. Believing you’re exempt from that is really silly.

Exactly.

A sports forum is where fans should be able to come and have fun. Most of the fans on the Suns forum do not have inside information so we kick around thoughts. I come here to have fun and share information... nothing more. I really enjoy 99% of the people on the Suns forum.

Notice those that attack my posts and the posts of others, usually do like to use full quotes because it easier to take pieces of information, add to it and then make a collage (I do mean a collage) of information and distort it. It's called misinformation or even gaslighting.

They cherry-pick pieces of information, add their words and interpretation to it and then attack it.
Then they like to appear offended and play victim when someone reacts.

It's nothing different than the acts of a playground bully we faced as a child. They want confrontation but then when someone confronts them, they play the victim.

It would be nice to see the Suns forum focus on the Suns and stop this needless quarreling.

The other 200 applicants would appreciate your perspective.
You might be right. And in your stubbornness you might have lost the #1 candidate. Congrats for taking a stand and lessening the success of your company.

I'm used to salary range being available to all interested candidates but I guess maybe that's not standard to all types of business. We had a min, a max and a mid-point for every position and I never discussed salary until it was time to hire. When it came time to negotiate for the position, the salary offered would be based on all the important things - experience, age, religion, sexual preference, skin color and gender.
Salary ranges are definitely NOT standard for most higher wage professional positions (in which I’d classify professional head coach).

You've never been a hiring manager, have you? Do you know the number of applications that are received for professional and mid-management positions?
Yes, TONS of terrible and under qualified applicants. I am hiring at all times. I’m never NOT reviewing resumes or conducting interviews.

You could be right. I've interviewed a lot of people but for the most part it was for high turnover/entry level positions. And it was all in banking where the rules for hiring and firing are almost always fixed in stone.

I think Sarver is pretty freaking lousy... but with Bud I gotta think it's because of the level of power he wants at his next job. That Atlanta is getting rid of him is a sign that he is looking to be more than just "coach".

Also I think the Hawks want to rebuild with young players. I suspect Bud wants to win now.

Winning meaningless games last season didn't help.

Why doesn't Bud have a job yet? Even Milwaukee is interviewing other candidates.

This is an interesting development at the moment. If Bud does not get the job he wants, he may sit out a year or even two. He still gets paid.

Word was that he does horribly in job interviews. Atlanta was not going to hire him at first.

I am sure it's Sarver's fault.
It always is.

Sarver was getting ripped on the radio today for not answering any questions about a Booker extension saying it would be unfair to McD, Jones, and Devin to talk about it right now. They were ripping him for "lowballing" or not being willing to talk about it when he talks about everything else.

Good grief. They are probably planning a big announcement with bells and whistles etc. It would be totally gosh for Sarver to steal their thunder by talking about it on the air prematurely.

Sarver has had problems, but the criticism is just over the top sometimes.

I didn't listen to the radio today so I'm not sure what that is all about.

However, the last time I listened to Sarver, I thought he was unusually reserved about Booker's new contract.

No I'm not blaming Sarver for anything... but he could be more enthusiastic about Booker.

Isn't that the GM's job?

Exactly my point. Sarver declined to talk about saying it was the GM’s job and the media roundly criticized him for it.

It’s like criticizing a guy for putting his shoes on the right feet because he normally puts them on the wrong feet.

My thoughts were that Sarver could have sounded a bit more enthusiastic about Booker's future.

An owner is allowed to do that.

It may be the GM who negotiates the contract but Sarver pays the bills.

Unfortunately when you make a bad first impression it becomes incredibly difficult to overcome. Unless you do something that is unanimously viewed as amazing in the public eye you’re likely stuck with the first impression you created. That’s why first impressions, while potentially inaccurate remain so incredibly important in our society.
