Thank you.

I think with the immediate success of guys like Thomas and Clady we want someone to come in and dominate right away. .

Thomas actually regressed this past year. But i would take Levi playing at his level. Why didn't the Browns trade down 30 times a couple years ago and then we would've had Joe.

When Levi was first drafted, he was thought of as a great run blocker, not so sure he fits that label now lol.

I think this year is a breakout year for not just Levi Brown but the whole offensive line as a whole. I think they are going to come out and shut everyone up...

At least I'm praying they do LoL

- Why he gives up so many sacks?

We pass a lot. We pass in a spread formation without TE or RB help a lot. He is going into his third year at the position, so he is still in the standard NFL "improving phase".

AND if we really want to get into it, the teams we played last year had some good pass rushers as well.

- To answer questions about inconsistant running ?

He lines up next to Deuve Lutui, and the whispers/rumors/rumblings is that Duece is the weak link. What happens if Brandon Keith comes in and we all of a sudden start running the football better to his side. Not to mention there is not one single Cardinals offensive linemen that you could say was consistent in the running game last year. So, we are just single-ing out Brown form some reason.

- As for in general, why do I disagree with Joe ?

You can talk to me about stats, rankings, this, and that.......He was the starting RT (all 16 games + playoffs) for the NFC CHAMPION Arizona Cardinals. The offense was unstoppable at times, and the team was under 3 minutes away from being Superbowl champions.

Like it or not, Levi Brown was a part of that team.

Thus, why I would call him a solid RT, and I think he will continue to improve.

Furthermore, if Levi Brown was a weak link. If Levi Brown was one of the worse tackles in the NFL. Then why would Whiz keep him in ? Whiz, time and time, and time again replaces players who perform poorly. He creates competition at each position regardless.

If Brown sucks then someone will, or already should have come in and taken his position.

This is all my two bit opinion, of course.

Before I respond, Rugby, I should say I fall somewhere in the middle of you and Joe on this issue.

Now, two points. One, saying we pass a lot doesn't absolve him of the sack numbers, because even taking # pass attempts into consideration, he purportedly gave up more sacks than most.

Now, the real biggie is, I KNOW you didn't say that he must be good because he was on a Super Bowl O-line. Two words for ya, buddy...Mike Gruttadaria lol

Not a good analogy. Outside of being injury prone Grutts was pretty darn good.

Oh and Levi played VERY well during the playoffs and that SB run.

Why can't he play that good every game then? Seems he is a little soft, and doesnt want to play hard every down. He gets absolutely abused by some pass rusher's, especially Karney for the seahawks, it's almost like watching Karney play with a child.

Yeah, Grutts was darn good...on the Rams surrounded by talent. With us, he was never, never good. Saying a player was good just because he made the SB is just plain silly. Paging Mr. Brown of ex-Cowboys fame...

Yes, Levi did play well then. Now he needs to translate that to EVERY game.

Duane Starks, Dexter Jackson, and hunderds of other players who were on super bowl teams that suck as individual players. The whole arguement that a player being a starter on a super bowl team means they are automatically solid holds about as much water as a sippy cup with a hole in it.

Are RB's helped out a lot. Why do you think we hear so much about the CArds looking for ability to pass block in their RB's. Why do you think we heard so much about Hightowers lack of pass blocking ability, or the fact that we sign Wright was because of his supposed great pass blocking ability, or the talk about Beinnie's biggest weakness for us being his pass blocking. Are TE's dont know what the word Chip block means but without a doubt are RB's do.

Us passing a lot is exactly why I looked into pass attempts per sack because it takes into account how many times we passed the ball compared to teams that didnt pass the ball that often. Same sort of stat works well with sacks on defense as well. How many pass attempts did the D face compared to how many sacks they got.

Also every team played good pass rushers last year. We were not singled out in that area.

Considering the title of the thread says, "Concerns about Levi?", why do you wonder that Levi is the one being singled out? Plus not to mention top 5 picks always get singled out more so then 2nd rounders. If this was a thread about Lutui we would be talking about Lutui's inconsistencies as well, but alas this thread is about Levi.

Like who? OT was easily are weakest position depth wise last year, by far. All we had was a huge project in Keith and PS player Vallejo.

Because thats the hallmark of young players.

They show flashes of talent but are inconsistant because they are still learning.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that a young player can look bad against a savvy 11 year pro-bowl veteran like Patrick Kerney.

Good golly is this really that shocking to anyone? I mean the guy has played only two seasons. Does anyone think that a young offensive tackle might get better in his third, fourth or fifth years?

It might be a wee early to give up on him.

.it is such a shocking idea that we where even able to capitalize on a pass to our TE Spach in the playoffs since who would expect such a thing.

LOL Reminds me of when the Cards used to throw the ball to Joel Mackovica. He'd be so wide open he'd freak out and fall down.

Painful memory. The Nebraska hobbit. Who named him Missablocka? Best nickname any of us has ever come up with for a Cards player.

(Duckjake - my downloaded IEspellcheck suggested I change Duckjake to muckrake. No lie.) Somebody with iespellcheck try it, please.

Muckrake? I like it. There's a certain symmetry to that.

Lets not over exaggerate. You are referring to one game where he was abused. The previous game he played him VERY well. This last season Im pretty sure Kearney was hurt in both games.

Levi Brown needs to continue to improve his game the way Coach Grimm Wants him to, and he will be fine. He should be markedly better this year.

I think you're right. 20 games with the same 5 linemen in the same position will go a long way toward improving the performance of every one of our oline guys.

That is something that the Cards have not had in a long time. Continuity.

As I said before I was asked to explain myself, that it is just my humble opinion of ths situation.

I see your point in the arguement Joe, I just don't agree.

I see the production from the team, the wins, the success the fact no one has been brought in this offseason to compete with Levi Brown, and the fact no one competed with Levi Brown last year as indications that Levi Brown is just fine as the RT for the Arizona Cardinals.

If it is just because he fits into our system then so be it.

I stick by my opinion that Levi Brown is a solid tackle. If you think that my opinion is wrong, that is fine, but it is not going to change anything.

honestly? it's what i'm looking forward to most this year. individually i'm less than impressed with anyone on our oline, but they did a yeoman's work last year and i'm interested to see if they continue to grow as a unit.
