Daryl Washington notched his first NFL sack yesterday. He's been active this season, and I think that he'll be even better once Gerald Hayes comes back in and he'll be able to play more of the weakside role (which is the position where he got his sack) and to play on passing downs.

Washington continues to develop, and while I don't think he's physical enough to be a real playmaker/top LB in the NFL (he arm-tackled a 170 lbs Justin Forsett and was dragged an extra five yards), he's evolving into an above-average core player for the future of the defense.

The way this season's decisions have been Washington will probably be on the bench when Hayes comes back...

Washington went untouched. Don't like the fact that Hasselbeck complained about though. But then again, when doesn't he complain.

it looked like Washington might have had a hand right on his face when he pulled him down.

He probably will in the base defense. Washington still gets pushed around in run support in a way that Paris Lenon doesn't (necessarily).

We'll see more of Washington at OLB I bet, as well.

I imagine lenon and hayes with spot duty for washington mostly as an OLB pass rusher until next year when he is groomed into dansbys WILB role.

wasn't the little facemask grab that had Hass upset .... with 50 million cameras in the stadium you'd expect to get an actual shot of something every now and again ....... but with the cards & seahawks, who cares about the game right? - bring on strahan!

Sando mentioned it in his blog.........

"After Arizona linebacker Daryl Washington sacked Hasselbeck in the first quarter, teammate Joey Porter stepped over the quarterback, hit him and knocked Hasselbeck to the turf once more.

Hasselbeck rose and screamed at the Cardinals defenders."

I've been impressed with Washington all year. I really don't want him moving to a lesser role when Hayes comes back. Lenon is probably the better player right now, but it seems senseless to start him over Washington in what's turning out to be a rebuilding year. If we're going to lose, we might as well develop the young guys in the process.

Congrats to Washington. I wanted him us to draft him. I was a big fan of his, when he was at TCU.

2nd time he's been rolled up on this year ............ another reason why chris baker should never be on the field in important situations, regardless of what the stats are like when they run out insane #s of TEs

This is what drives you crazy as a fan of the 2010 Cards. All these guys have good games overall but make at least one or two or more bonehead mistakes every Sunday afternoon.

25-30 good plays and 5 plays where we go WTF?

I guess its just all part of that tough, smart, disciplined football Whiz promised us -----huh?????:bang:
