I have a feeling that we are going to get the first two games at home and they will be Chicago and Dallas.

How about a MNF game in the desert at the new stadium. Cowboys @ Cards:thumbup:

Just read that Sunday Night Football is now going to become the premiere game of the week, according to the NFL, since Monday is ESPN only.

So who was the other unknown team (as of last week based on divisional finish) that we are going to be playing on the road next year?

Nevermind ... its Atlanta

It's Atlanta, they finished 3rd in the South.

And iirc, that is the NBC game with Madden.

Correct, Madden signed on for the NBC Sunday Night Football. I guess next year they also start the process of being able to move one game from Sunday daytime to Sunday night to drive better matchups at the end of the season. Since NBC is a national network (free), the NFL is using Sunday Night Football as their premier slot each week. They noted that TV ratings are highest Sunday nights of all nights of the week.

There was also all kinds of logistical problems in trying to move a game from Sunday to Monday (other events, date change, etc.). This new way, they simply move the starting time of the selected game back from 1:00 or 4:00 p.m. EST to 8:30 p.m. EST. I would guess that Monday Night games will still be pre-selected when the schedule comes out in April.

ABC plans to put Desperate Housewives up against Sunday Night Football. :)

I was thinking Denver and Dallas.

So Jake can debut in the stadium he helped get going (his signing right before the first vote IIRC), and Dallas the hated rival from the NFC East days.

What about the Rams at home on opening night? Cards old city, Warner's old team (if we resign him), The Bidwill's connections to St. Louis, and a NFC West rival. The Cardinals were chased out of St. Louis because they wouldn't build them a stadium. I think from a historic perspective and the current alignment of divisions, this would be a great first game matchup for the new stadium.

For some reason, it was here in the paper today that Denver will be the FOURTH game of the season. It did not explain why that will be the case, just that it is. They also said the Cards have not been guaranteed by the league that they will open at home.

I'd be so pissed if we open on the road, I can't think about it. So, I guess we'll open against either Dallas or Chicago. Both are slam dunk sellouts, and Bidwill likes the old rivalries.

Here's the link to the article with the blurb about the schedule, it's towards the end:

I'd say it's a lock that the first game in the new stadium will be against Dallas.

Also glad to see that we're keeping our annual game against Detroit.

Chargers in San Diego, ROAD TRIP!!!!
