I would love to see where CJ was "bitching" about playing time.

Seriously, the guy is gone, no need to kick him while he walks out the door because you want people to agree with your opinion about the situation.

I actually remember something about him not being too happy with his PT

I think CJ will be okay if some random guy behind a keyboard is giving his opinion that he's expired in the league.

CJ looked slow to me this preseason. I loved his contributions in the past but with him not on ST I think it makes sense.

Ellington still has the speed to create mismatches with motion out of the backfield (when DJ is out of the game). Cards need that, as much of their playbook relies on it.

Same here.

But, if the guy says he is OK with not being out on the field, then his desire gets questioned. He was well liked within the locker room, and that has bee reported, over, and over. Saying he wants the ball more is a lot different then bitching about it, and being a distraction.

Chris Johnson has been released. Some think its a mistake, I am one of them, but that is without a doubt arguable.

But, I do not think there is a person on this board, that thinks he is irreplaceable. He is.

My argument is simple Kerwynn Williams and Andre Ellington has proven they cannot be relied on to block anything. Williams can run the rock better than Chris Johnson, and Ellington can catch passes better than Johnson. I think Penny is hot garbage and a place holder for a vet to be brought in later.

That leaves one role left, a good pass blocking running back. David Johnson, self-admittedly said he has to improve in that area. Has he ? Who knows ? He played about 10 snaps so far.

If he has improved, it is not an issue, if he has not improved then it is a bit of an issue, and I stress a bit. Palmer himself said he would rather have someone go out for a quick pass than stay in and block. We will see.

If Johnson goes down, and Williams has to play, I am fine with it, just hope Williams is not asked to pass block is all.

On to the next guy.

I enjoyed watching him run in comparison to AE...AE did nothing in a pre-season game to make me think he should be on this team. It isn't his name but the fact that I trust him more than the others. If DJ goes down for any reason who do you want in there?

AE hasn't been and won't be the back-up "runner" to DJ... We know that already. Unless something changes, KW will be the back up RB... and frankly, he has been the best option all along. In the games where he's had his chance to grab a few carries when the bullets were live, he's played well.

Not if he is to pass block. The idea was to run a Two back set and send DJ out as a receiver. If he's in the back field blocking he can't be lined up outside.

Agreed. But Johnson is not the only back in the league that can do that. One would hope this farce that E. Penny is a NFL talent is just a place holder for another vet to be brought in.

I know that myself and others said a name like Matt Forte, but Forte is not a special teamer.

agreed.

the problem with CJ was he was a third stringer, who was slowing down AND couldn't play special teams. Ellington is tailor made for a 3rd down back. Perry is the bruiser (I guess) who plays ST. Made no sense to keep CJ.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yep. Of course that is what it is.

The is the most truthful statement since truth came to truth town on the truth train for ever, and ever and ever........and ever.

And hey, if he does has a problem he will be bitching about it anyway.

Now that we agree on that, one to other things.

I don't think we did either, but it was a wrinkle that (I think) BA said he wanted to use this year. Yes AE can spread out wide but he's not the route runner DJ is. Again just my opinion as we have not seen anything new in preseason.

AE sucks, Penny sucks and KW suck.
What the heck is wrong with Kerwynn Williams? All he has done is averaged 5.6 yards per carry over 98 carries in his career... and when asked to play significant snaps, he's produced:
2014: 19-100, 15-75, 17-67
2015: no single game with over 8 carries, but went 27-142 for the season
2016: 12-60

I am hoping/expecting to see two RB sets with DJ and AE BOTH running patterns. who do you cover? One of the WR? the TEs? both RBs?

Those stats are a little misleading...he has had a few long runs in mop up roles. He has never started a game and he is a liability in pass protection. It doesn't matter...good luck CJ.

If I remember correctly, didn't he start 2 games in '14. I want to say against KC and STL, and didn't he break some pretty long 100 yard game drought for us then?
