Conditional 5th round pick, if he plays 40% of the defensive snaps.

Why is it that other teams trade for guy's and get them for next to nothing and we don't. I didn't really care if we got Dalton or not but it would have been nice to get him at that price. Of course they would have wanted a third rounder if it was us. Let's hope we can trade for a CB or a DE soon.

Exactly. I wasn't too high on this guy, but a conditional 5th rounder. C'mon.

We didn't get Dalton because he must be a fat, lazy turd who's a lockerroom cancer. It's the only obvious conclusion.

After we don't trade for a CB, or DE, you will also know that they are underachieving cancers as well. We're all set with Alton Moore and Rhett Nelson anyhow. They can start and win many, many games for us.

I don't think he is better than Tanner either. At least not much.

I don't know how Dalton is now but just a couple years ago he was considered an up and coming DT and he is only 28 with 5 years in and listed at 309lbs. As far as Alton Moore and Rhett Nelson, if we are starting them then I suggest everyone close their eyes during the games so they wont be as painful.

AJCardFan:

Or, the Cardinals coaches may not have felt that Lionel Dalton would be effective in the new, more-aggressive scheme they've installed for the d-line. Sorta like the reason Chicago cut--and the Cards didn't pursue--Ted Washington.

Maybe not. But it's a sensible explanation.

Sadly, it is true. I bet Tanner hopes to find a sucker to pay him lots of money like Dalton did.

This really isn't a loss although the Cards do still need a DT, DE and CB. This is an instance a bird in the hand isn't necessarily worth 2 in the bush.

Seems you've mentioned this a few times (sorry if I've got you mixed up with another poster). If you are rooting for cancers you are rooting for the wrong team here. But noone has ever said everyone let go/not signed is a cancer. I want to sign studs as much as anyone but some guys just don't fit the master plan. By the way, what the hell is our master plan?

I dont root for cancers but i dont call for their exile either. I think people want personality and a good attitude rather than talent. Personality and a good attitude does not win games talent does. Im sick of hearing the word cancer though. Who would you rather have Nate Poole or Randy Moss. Anyone who says Nate poole is a flat out lier. I personally like someone who is a trash talker and walks the line between a dirty player and a clean player. I like players who arent afraid to get in someones face. I love the smash-mouth type players. Just this off-season i heard the DB,TJ,K-Lass, and Frank Sanders were all cancers, not to mention dalton and some other free agents.

BTW i dont think we have a master plan, and if we do it obviously isnt any good.

We need a players who want the TEAM to win, not just pad their stats, get highlights then endorsements.

This is a TEAM game, anybody who thinks that the bad feelings between the RB & FB in SF won't hurt the team is nuts.

Dalton wasn't a cancer in Denver. In fact, he was the opposite of a "cancer." He was a lockerroom leader.

They are 3-0 this pre-season so it hasnt hurt much yet.

Man, good stats and winning teams go hand in hand. C. Johnson in Cincy set a goal for himself of 1800 yards recieving. Do you think that if he gets his 1800 yards, the Bengals are going to do bad?

I don't care how poorly you play the run, if you rack up 16.5 sacks in a season (that's 105.5 yard lost to sacks), you're helping your team, as Simeon Rice did in 1999.

Good players on good teams get endorsements. Winning fixes chemistry. Randy Moss, Cris Carter, and Daunte Culpepper weren't feuding when they were winning 15 games. On the other hand, teams with great chemistry like the Chargers are always sitting at home in January.

I think the Redskins may've screwed up on this deal.

A week ago, they traded for a Saints DT, Martin Chase. They gave up a conditional 7th round pick, which would become a 6th if Chase participated in at least 40% of the plays.

Today, they gave up a conditional 7th rounder for Dalton, which would become a 5th if he participated in at least 40% of the plays.

Here's the problem:

The Redskins have only one 7th round pick.

What if Chase & Dalton, for whatever reason, don't play 40% of the snaps?

You can't trade compensatory picks, so what would happen if the above scenario came to pass? One of the 7ths becomes a 6th? Who would get the 6th? Denver or New Orleans?

It wouldn't suprise me if the NFL vetoed this trade.

What was the Cardinal's record when Boston blew up?
