There aren't any details yet other than Erickson has promised Oz will get into the game at some point. He hasn't figured out when and under what pretense.

I know... How bout the "when" being START HIM, and the "pretense" being TRYING TO GET A WIN!

;)

It's telling that Erickson chose this game for Oz's first meaningful action. Far away from ASU fans and it won't be on TV. I'm not even sure there will be televised highlights.

Also the closest game to Ozs hometown so his friends/family will be there.

Id rather have the Dickey Dome than Alzheimers Arena, or whatever they call that place a basketball team used to play at.

Can't see the game but Sullivan has thrown 3 INTs, way to not disappoint.

3 picks against the worse pass defense in the Pac 10. Osweiler didnt light the world on fire, but he also didnt do as poorly as Sullivan. Its time to make a change, Sullivan is beyond inept.

Osweiler just needs more time under his belt. He didn't get enough minutes today. I liked how he tried to use his mobility. With six turnovers today the Sun Devils should have lost against even a bad team. I look to Sullivan to lose games more than win them. His three interceptions today is indicative.

Washington's Pass Defense is worse...

That said Sully is a nice guy, but is is OFFICIALLY the worst QB ASU has had in 2 decades

It drove me nuts how the host of Devil Talk kept saying "Osweiler got his chance and didn't do anything" as if 4 pass attempts was enough to make any sort of judgement. Osweiler did have the 'fumble' but when the center snaps it over a 6'8'' basketball player Ive got to think the blame is at least mutual.

Sullivan is a nice guy who is well liked but he is just not good enough to play at this level. We are an average QB away from being a 9-3 team. They won yesterday despite him

I didn't count the high snap fumble against Osweiler at least as described on the radio.

On a side note, how can ASU allow an opponent to throw a 99+ yard TD pass from virtually their own end zone? That was demoralizing.

My spies at practice said Osweiller has been getting some reps with the first team the past two weeks, but has yet to make a strong case for himself to start.

They are speculating that Os will get a couple of series in the first half unless Sullivan comes in and sets the world on fire. Right now the emphasis remains on managing the offense and winning the field position battle.

Good to hear I guess. I heard a snippet of Erickson on the radio today say "ball security is job security" which really frustrated me when you later heard him saying Sullivan is still the guy. If seemingly talented guys like G. Robinson and R. Bass can't get on the field more because of ball security issues, why does Sullivan get to stay when he threw 3 picks against a glorified D2 school?

Im glad Osweiller got in against WSU, but only getting 4 passes really doesn't seem like enough to make a good assessment. I wish he wouldve had more time against a bad team, I dont know if youll be in a position to experiment with him against a superior team like UW.

This offense is worse than the 1993 offense, exacerbated by the fact this offense is a spread and requires the QB to make plays.

FTFY

If ASU was running a traditional two-back system with road-grading guards, I think they'd be 4-1 right now. Not saying they should change directions. Just pointing out it's the entire offense, not just the QB play, that's the problem. This offense would be miserable with Jake Plummer running it.

McGaha and Taylor are both questionable for tonight's game against UW...certainly won't help if either or both can't give it a go tonight.

Was talking to somebody who's pretty close to ASU's program and he told me that Sullivan is starting because the coaches don't think too much of Osweiler right now. He said that it's very likely that the UM transfer is the starter for the next couple years.

I would say that's a misread. They don't trust Oz to stick to the game plan. He likes to take risks. I think works real hard in practice but Sullivan is the one that continues to maintain the trust of the players and the coaches (for a reason). But the coaches love his upside and his mobility. If that offensive line wasn't a rickety fence, I think Oz would've been receiving ample playing time by now -- if not starting.

That said, Threet may end up starting next year. He's less mobile than Oz, but he looks comfortable in the pocket and brings a lot of confidence. I met his dad a few months ago. Based on my (bad) experience with ASU QB dads, the Threets are good people. Steven isn't your typical transfer in that he's expecting a program to cater to him. He came here to compete and believes in his skills. He came here understanding he'd run the scout team for year without a hint of attitude -- and he's done well in that role.

^Thats all very good to hear. I hope Pete Thomas comes in next year with a similar attitude, while Im sure the competition will be open to him I find it unlikely he gets the job. Hopefully he'll be OK redshirting a year while Osweiler and Threet battle it out for the 1 and 2 slots with Samson S probably being 3rd string and maybe used in spots for some tricky stuff.

I'm in favor of Samson changing positions, maybe play the slot. He's a good athlete at 6-4/215.
